    Dice is gone too?!

Just heard on Espn that he is about to sign with the Pistons for $30mil for 6 years.

And some of us were thinking of signing him w/ vet minimum. ;)

But does this mean they'll lose Sheed?

Yeah, I just saw that as well. Doesn't make much sense.

    Holy Cow.

I am happy for Dice but I am having a hard time understanding why anyone would commit that kind of money to him for that length of time given his history of injuries.

I knew McDyess would get huge bucks after the likes of Etan Thomas, Brian Cardinal and Brian Skinner got P-A-I-D. The vet minimum never made sense to me.

When we weren't in the final running for Barry and it looked like we were not going after Fisher/Hudson (because we were trying to acquire Daniels), my next guess was McDyess they would be targeting. He's a huge risk though. I can't believe he got that long of a contract.

BTW, that was $30 million over five years I believe .... so even more money.

    Umm. Wow.

I thought the Pistons were smart when they let the Jazz overpay for Okur. Now they turn around and give a guy who relied on athleticism has been absolutely plagued by injuries a 6 year deal?!

I wonder what Sheed does now...

There is a serious crack epidemic amongst NBA GM's. Why sign old, injury-prone 4's like him to a deal like that? First, Adonal Foyle, then Brian Freaking Cardinal and now this. Lame. I would rather the Rockets get CBA fodder than overpay for people who will give you essentially the same production. They are smart not to panic and throw all the chips on the table for the upcoming season.

Man this is insane. But maybe this means that Mo Tay can be dealt for a PG. The way things are going, he's not even overpaid anymore. And out of all the guys that have signed so far, Mo has a better offensive game than all of them. That's gotta be worth something.

This is nut money. I honestly do not get any of this. All of a sudden Cato's contract looks "ok" and Mo Tay's looks downright good.

Makes me wonder if we can make any dent with what we have to offer with this kind of money being thrown around for borderline average to above average players.

I have a feeling the Rockets actually like the PFs they have now. So McDyess was not in the equation. And for $30 Million? Who's kidding who. Great for the guy but the GM's are CRAZY this year.

hey how much does sheed look to make this year? why not make a run at him? especially if we go after a cheap pg like damon jones? him/moT would be a nice scoring punch....and im sure playing with detroit he learned sum nice d =)..and completely optimistic here...but hopefully winning a ring calms him down a bit.....just a thought

    ANOTHER 5/6 year deal?!?

The GM’s in the NBA have to know something we don’t. There’s no possible explanation for these ridiculous deal’s other than a change in the Collective Bargaining Agreement will be made soon prompting GM’s to be more willing to use their MLE’s.

I remember an article posted here not long ago about how the MLE has hardly been used in the past. Now all of a sudden, every team is using their full MLE.

The main rumor floating around is that the owners and player's union will abolish the luxury tax.
