http://voices.washingtonpost.com/thefix/2008/09/mccain_wins_debate.html McCain Wins Debate Although the fate of tonight's presidential debate in Mississippi remains very much up in the air, John McCain has apparently already won it -- if you believe an Internet ad an astute reader spotted next to this piece in the online edition of the Wall Street Journal this morning. "McCain Wins Debate!" declares the ad which features a headshot of a smiling McCain with an American flag background. Another ad spotted by our eagle-eyed observer featured a quote from McCain campaign manager Rick Davis declaring: "McCain won the debate-- hands down." Image on WSJ website: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/images/26Sep_Friday_WSJ.JPG So when you see these ads, just remember that they declared the winner before the debate was even held. I wonder if these were made up while McCain's campaign was "suspended".
it's deceiving, but technically not a lie. It could had be a debate between him and Palin. Who knows.
Not a lie. He entered a contest, his number was drawn, and he won a debate. His DVD copy of Lewis Black's "Root of All Evil" is in the mail!
Good thing I found out ahead of time, because I didn't want to watch it. Both of these guys are just awful debaters, and between McCain's meandering and sometimes meaningless answers and Obama's stuttering and question avoidance, and it's going to be brutal to watch.
Technovikingly, it's a lie. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/_1nzEFMjkI4&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/_1nzEFMjkI4&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
It's not any more of a lie than if it was published after the debate, or if it said Obama Wins. They don't declare a winner; it's just another data point for every voter's decision-making.
WTF?!?!? Put a spoiler tag or something! I was gonna DVR it and then watch it when I got home. Now there's no point.
Might as well put out the 'McCain solves financial crisis' now because you know that's going to be the spin when this thing is done.
