This is unbelievable. I don't even know what to say, really. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/21/us/politics/21debate.html If you're worried about someone's inexperience, well, don't choose them. It's pretty simple. Don't choose them and then try to change the rules to accommodate said weakness.
God I hate these a$$bags, I wanted to see biden go to jail for the a$$ wuppin he was going to deliver to the Pitbull.
What's the point of a debate if you can't . . . . debate. Might as well call it a glorified Q&A session.
wow....just wow....this is a ****ing joke!!! AMERICA WAKE THE **** UP!!! I just cant believe this crap anymore...nothing suprises me anymore with these guys. TJ, basso, Irocit, roxran please spin this so that atleast I can get a good chuckle out of this.
screw the debates. the 2 should just have their advisors submit written responses to questions. sort of like a take home exam. biden would have torn her apart...
The choosing of Palin gets more ridiculous as time goes on. Really? They think she might be at a disadvantage? The woman has no substance. McCain knows it. Obama knows it. Biden knows it. The media knows it. The American people? Well most of them don't seem to comprehend that. Mind boggling.
this is exactly why the founding fathers created the electoral college... because the american people can not be trusted to make an informed decision...I mean come on people, even bush could handle debates but she cant
Well this format is better than what was originally proposed by the McCain campaign...from the same article...
I have to agree. Perhaps I am overreacting, but things like this restore my belief that the Democratic party is essentially gutless. I don't know how you can agree to these changes. It will be telling if they decide not to advertise the hell out of these concessions.
The decision was made by the Commission on Presidential Debates. The Palin camp wanted a debate with no direct exchanges between her and Biden. The commission rejected that proposal but did end up splitting the difference of what Palin asked for and the format of the presidential debates. The McCain/Palin campaign got some of what they were looking for. But so did Obama. Obama got the focus of the 1st and 3rd debates flipped just like he wanted. So both sides somewhat successfully lobbied the commission. And because of that, I don't see the Obama camp making a big issue of it because Obama got his way too.
I understand what your saying...but come on man. you think switching the order of the debates (no matter what they will cover all the same issues) is the equivalent of Palin getting off easy because shes not experienced enough? I hope the american people can see the difference
Obama is doing the right thing. He used it as leverage to get what he wanted. The VP debates don't matter, Palin is a distraction and a trap. He needs to focus on McCain and bury him in that first debate.
The one difference between Obama's request and Palin's is that he didn't make it because he was afraid he wasn't experienced enough to handle it and needed protection
Obama seems to be doing this to make himself and his position more known to the general public. He's taking a risk to show he's not afraid of a situation. Palin looks like she's protecting herself from getting eaten alive by Joe Biden. While I think the VP debates will be closer than most, to me, this was a clear indication that Palin does not want to get in an exchange with Biden. Obama is just reshuffling the issues, it'd be better for the economy to be one of the later issues, anyways, so that we can see congressional reaction to the issues on Wall Street before they debate.
