John McCain is too dangerous to be president. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/PdJUCU1UH2w&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/PdJUCU1UH2w&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> "He will make Cheney look like Gandhi." - Pat Buchanan
from josh -- You're In Danger Andrew Sullivan is right about this . This is something that transcends whatever immediate campaign tactics or even strategy Barack Obama may be pursuing. It goes beyond him. It goes beyond the Democrats. The whole country needs to wake up. The foreign policy of the last seven-plus years has been an unmitigated disaster for the United States by virtually every measure. And John McCain would ramp up all the worst traits of the current administration. His instincts are always toward force and the people advising him come squarely from the Cheney wing of the current administration. In comparison to Bush he's not just more of the same. There's every reason to believe he'd be much worse. The current situation in Georgia and his response should make clear to everyone how dangerous a president John McCain would be. --Josh Marshall
I hope so. This is Obama's area of weakness so if he maintains this position of war as a "last resort" I would hope he sticks that plan. Obama strikes me as the type that will say and do anything to get elected, remain popular and never be in the position GWB is in right now. All i'm saying is if that "last resort" level is reached [God Forbid] I would hope he acts promptly rather than delaying a war simply because it will be unpopular.
John McCain serves our nation with as much honor as any soldier, past or present, and this is the type of mud that is slung his way by the anti-war, liberal sissies. Yes, the same sissies that likely spat on Vietnam Vets after they returned home from combat. Yes, the same sissies that bomb military recruiting storefronts and minimize the efforts of our troops. If anyone is qualified to serve as Commander-in-Chief, it is John McCain. The country agrees overwhelmingly. Barack Obama simply does not have the credentials to be respected in that role. He has no executive leadership experience. None. But omg he's like going to use a text msg 2 let u know who ur new dem Veep is!!!!1!!!1
Ladies and gentlemen, the standard T_J post that has absolutely nothing to do with the issues raised by the OP and that is totally irrelevant to the topic at hand. Bravo, good sir!
This is as good an opportunity as any to introduce the one and only response I will grant to Troller George until he mans up. I suggest you all do the same. Then take the bet, coward.
John McCain's service qualifies him for huge amounts of respect, makes him a hero, and should earn him praise and gratitude. It does not qualify him to be the commander-in-chief. Further more his failure to grasp key foreign policy issues such as the difference between Sunni and Shia, and whether or not Iran was training al-qaeda shows that he is actually less qualified than his opponent. You can bring up his military service again all you want, and I'll always say it shows that he deserves what I described above. But it doesn't show that he should be the commander-in-chief. Take the bet
Mccain and leadership? " a prisoner of war is man who tries to kill you and fails, and then pleads you not to kill him." Kerry did more for his country, by protesting an unjust war, than any of these right wingers.
That is so incredibly disrespectful. He gave over 5 years of his life to his country, enduring unspeakable torture all along the way. You should show the man a little more respect than that.
Yes. I would like to add matching funds to this bet in the following way: McCain Wins: TraderJorge leaves this forum for time = x Obama Wins: CBFC leaves this forum for time = 2x Anyone else in? Minimum should be x = one year, but i will do it for six months minimum because I know TJ needs the forum to medicate his delicate self-esteem problems, and I don't want anything to happen to him without this valuable outlet. But I think six months would be okay. Maximum is however long. no maximum. Forever is fine. In fact, forever is preferred, i will stay out for two forevers if McCain beats Obama. No conditions. Obama is the father of that Edwards love child and loses? No problem, see you all later. Obama turns out not to be a citizen of the US, but of The Republic Of Al Qaeda? Fine. Cheney launches war against Georgia, Iran, Canada and Iraq (again) and the Republicans win? No problem. If there is an election in November between McCain and Obama, I dont care what the external factors are, I am out of here for twice as long as Trader will put up if McCain loses. Trader - you are so confident that your views are that of the majority, I really think this should be no sweat. Anyone else in? Seriously Trader, you could take out half the board. Deadline is 48 hours.
We made a poll a while ago, and Sam_Fisher had like 30 people for him, and T_J had about 3 or so (from what I remember).
