Yeah. There were some pretty vile and hurtful things said during the South Carolina primary. It's a really nasty side of politics. We tried to ignore it and I think we shielded her from it. It's just unfortunate that that sort of thing still exists As you know she's Bengali, and very dark skinned. A lot of phone calls were made by people who said we should be very ashamed about her, about the color of her skin. Thousands and thousands of calls from people to voters saying "You know the McCains have a black baby" I believe that there is a special place in hell for people like those.

    -John McCain

(I guess McCain's campaign is like Hell)

When McCain lost the 2000 primary he knew the window on him ever becoming president was shutting. He stopped being a maverick and started aligning himself closer to the hardcore right. He did what he needed to do to win the nomination and he'll do whatever he thinks will help him win the election. If that means hiring a man who smeared him 8 years ago, so be it. Sometimes you have to make compromises to get what you want.

A lot of people would think there is a 'special place in hell' for a campaign that maliciously attacks the 17 year old daughter of a VP nominee.

A lot of people are starting to have legitimate concerns and questions regarding the soundness of McCain's judgment for decisions like hiring Tucker Eskew and selecting Palin for VP.

Of course he did. He's a typical political snake who will do whatever he can to win.

And McCain has dispatched his right wing attack cats like Malkin and Coulter to say some hateful things over the years.

Oh wait, what's that? They aren't controlled by John McCain?

    WHO WOULD OF THUNK IT?

that's not the point I was making. you do realize that the family announced that she was pregnant. now i will give you that they did that to avoid any further embrrassment. but the point is that no one is attacking her daughter. its just a story.

the voters are forming their own opinions

So, which is it? Is Obama a genius mastermind who controls the whole of the media though mind control (since his words have been clear, this is not an issue and his supporters should lay off)?

Or is he a vacuous airhead who looks and sounds good on TV, but isn't smart or experienced enough to run a deli, much less the most powerful country on Earth?

Your mixed messages are making me dizzy, or maybe it is the fumes coming off of your fertilizer laden "arguments."

It's hard to believe that in mid-July I was still a great admirer of John McCain. For him to hire the guy that shredded him back in 2000 just shows me McCain has completely lost whatever honor he had. He has surrounded himself with Bush-ites and any attempt to distance himself from Bush & minions can't be taken seriously. Bush's fingerprints are all over the guy now and he can't wash himself while wallowing in the mud at the same time.

I've said all along the only way Obama could win in a landslide was for the McCain campaign to collapse on itself. We may yet get there before November 4th.

I don't have such a stark view, but maybe I'm naive. I still admire him; I just think that, once you become a major party's nominee, it's very difficult to take the reigns. Very. He didn't have a strong organization going in, and so he had to take the machinery at hand, go for a ride on it.

I honestly think that, if he becomes president, he would be able to return to showing a lot of what you admire.

All that being said, the Palin choice does disturb me, if he really wanted to take a better choice like Ridge, in particular, and if he'd only met Palin once... That's just taking some bad advice. And any president will be getting lots of bad advice. You just have to see what they do with it. (e.g. Kennedy and the Cuban Missile crisis)

As for this GOP operative, aren't they saying that the guy will be hired to train Palin? I like to picture a Batman Begins type training sequence... perhaps in Alaska! :)

It is kind of like Artest coming to the Rockets: he is a thug, yes, but he is now "our thug." ;)

Let's be realistic. If McCain can't control his campaign, what makes you think he can control things after being president. He will OWE these vile people who are on his team now. If he doesn't pony up, they will desert him and look forward to 2012 knowing that a 76 year-old McCain won't run for re-election after an impotent 1st term.

Face it, McCain has sold out to his former enemies. Truly sad.

John MCCAIN would sell his soul to the Devil, if he hasn't already, to win the Presidency.

He is trying so hard to be part of the history books IMO.

I wonder would he be patriotic enough to admit when a war is wrong? IRAQ/VIETNAM? Thats an American to me with patriotism. Someone who stands for whats right, The fraternity BS has nothing to do with patriotism.

    HE'S A WANNABE.
