McCain has to retract Palin's comments about attacking within Pakistan's borders Check out the video, Palin says we should go across the border to attack if necessary, which is Obama's position. Then, the McCain camp has to scramble to issue a retraction. Wow. DD
Palin is media GOLD. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/nokTjEdaUGg&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/nokTjEdaUGg&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> I actually feel embarrassed for her from the 1:00 minute point onwards, this lady is out of her league. I don’t know if it’s just the pressure that’s getting to her, but IF she expects to be able to run the U.S (or as expected be the VP), she better be able to keep her composure during simple interviews. If she can’t handle this, then what’s she going to do in tougher circumstances...?!
This is not the only time Palin has agreed with Obama. Check out the video below. It is obvious that she idolizes Obama. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/jO6dmBm1SFw&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/jO6dmBm1SFw&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> McCain hiding her from public and interviews makes more sense now.
I feel slightly sorry for McCain. Palin barely contributes anything to the campaign, which is not how your VP pick should be designed. Any women voters she brings on board, I think equal out the voters she sends flying the other way from McCain, lol.
If this is typical of the religious right that has hijacked the republican party, then they deserve to be put back in their place, and the fiscal conservative moderates need to take back control. DD
The truly angering thing about this is not what she said, it's the McCain reaction. You're saying that what you say isn't really what you say unless you say it in front of a podium?
and Obama has his own Gaffe machine too! <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/NTBZHf6WyG0&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/NTBZHf6WyG0&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> FDR talked to the country on TV and led during the Depression? <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/iJ55UzAsp6M&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/iJ55UzAsp6M&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> Biden not supporting Coal plants but Obama does?
I liked what weslinder hypothesized in the other Palin thread. Palin got caught voicing her own opinion which happened to contradict McCain's position and is in line with Obama's. McCain retracting Palin's statement (instead of her doing it herself) is funny to me.
That's true Palin has already done the job that he needed her to do, excite the base. Coming into the convention I think knew that he was toast if he couldn't get the base on board. I think McCain is looking at this like the way GH Bush looked at getting Quayle. He himself might not even think that highly of Palin but understand that he needs someone who will excite the base even if they are a something of a lightweight. For that matter having a lightweight as VP might not be that bad as to avoid the Dukakis-Bentsen situation where many felt the ticket should be reversed.
She would be a great embarrassment for our country. You would have to get down pretty far in the list of countries till you could find a leader with her lack of depth and experience. She must be blowing the minds of most of the world leaders and opinion makers. Bush has been a dufus at times, but in her Couric interview Palin sinks much lower than I think Bush at his worst.
Ironic that Couric, who has struggled mightily as an anchor for CBS, ends up with what I consider the best and most revealing interview to date with Palin. Couric deserves whatever good press or publicity this has brought her. She handled the interview with class and didn't attempt to "get" Palin, who did an excellent job of hanging herself without help. Just a great job by Katie Couric.
It wasn't really a gaffe. Basically every American politician holds the same position Obama does re: Pakistan. The ONLY difference is that McCain says nobody should "say that out loud." As far as we know, McCain and Obama would do the exact same thing (as would Palin) re: Pakistan. The only difference is that McCain wants to keep it a secret.
If the Republicans unfathomably manage to win this election, the Democrats should put Halle Berry on the ticket in 4 years. The fact that Palin was chosen is a clear cut sign of the Apocalypse as far as I'm concerned.
