I'm sure basso will hold McCain to the same standard he's held Michelle Obama to.

Not only that, McCain's campaign adviser Charlie Black was quoted by Fortune magazine saying that another attack on America would be advantageous for McCain.

Wonder if the media will pick up on that too.

    very true robbie

But somehow I doubt either one of these issues will push this thread past two maybe three pages.

Again, the media will shrug it's shoulders.

But let's have another twenty threads about Michelle being an angry black woman.

I was cable news channel surfing and ran across Lou Dobbs today. They were talking about the comment Black said about an attack being an advantage for the McCain campaign. They showed McCain's response to it and Dobbs said that response was "simply incoherent!" The panel with him were agreeing. Now maybe agreeing with him is a condition of being on his program, lol, but it was a pretty damning... the comments from Black and the response to what McCain said about it. You wonder if the wobbly wheels of that campaign can manage to stay on!

    Impeach Bush.

He should be skinned alive in the media for this, however, as already stated, it will be a blurb on the news crawl met with a shrug and indifference.

Not meaning to be repetitive, but right now, this is a HUGE issue for me with McCain. If he can't put together a better campaign on why he should be elected president, how is he going to head the executive branch of our government?

Running a good campaign doesn't prove one will be a good president. But utter failure at it proves one cannot handle the job of president. I define "utter failure" as the sum of what McCain has done so far since clinching. He's making Al Gore and John Kerry look like champions.

When you go back 18 months to when McCain was the frontrunner, he totally blew it and imploded. What brought him back was sheer determination, Huckabee's stunning win in Iowa, New Hampshire's love affair him, the jumbled mixture (and Huckabee) in So. Carolina and Gov. Crist in Florida. Going back over the GOP primaries in my mind, Romney (ugh) probably should have been the nominee but everything that could have gone wrong, went wrong for him.

I'm still hopeful McCain gets it going. I'm slowly sliding into the large category of the electorate that will base it's vote strictly on how they feel about Obama. McCain might be relegated to be simply "the alternative".

A_3PO, any possible McCain supporter has to be shaking their head in consternation. No doubt about it. Any fence sitters gotta be wondering when McCain, if his campaign is any indication (as you point out), is going to show himself capable of running the country during these times.

I completely agree its tough to be proud of the U.S. We like to complain about our selection of candidates, but its you and I who elect these fools into office. And to top it off, we sit around all day arguing why our candidate is better than yours. While its been a dark 8 years, we will continue to see worse times ahead of us if we can't get a competent leader in the white house.

I didn't even start this thread to say that it wasn't tough or that it was easy, but just to point out the double standard some have. When Michelle Obama made a comment about it, she was blasted in the media, and more importantly by basso. So I'm waiting on him to blast McCain about this comment.

yeah but still when are we ever going to have a truly popular president.

i guess you could say regean or clinton were popular to an extent. but beside that i guess you have to go back to maybe JFK but he was shortlived, maybe FDR? who knows.

will it ever be truly evident that a president does well and everyone prospers. Or are we going to have bush or even worse???

Its a shame that Barack Obama has to go through a campaign with twice the fight , unlike is competitors . There has barely been a blip on the radar for McCain's comments. Obama is a black man and I commend him for making it this far into the presidential process.

    OBAMA in 08 !!!

The Bush years do seem like nighttime in the White House.

it is a non issue because, the quote is pretty reasonable and not an overthe top statement like the other made. . "In some respects" and "not always done things right" are no where near as strong as saying "for the first time...".

Give me a break! If Obama made this statement, the right-wing hound dogs would be all over him and it would be anything but a "non-issue".
