Lets tank this season and get a high lottery pick; package it with our useless washed-up guards (SF3, MJ, Rafer..?) and trade for a reputable all-star. Then, trade passionless T-mac for a borderline all-star (like Ray Allen), and before you know it we have 3 all-stars including Yao.

And who cares about our bench, I think any scrub in the NBA will look better than they actually are when surrounded by 3 all-stars; afterall, they are still good at basketball despite being scrubbies, just look at how Perkins and Gingerbrine are doing on the Celtics now.

I can't believe how stupid the TWolves are. A talented big man is so hard to find, yet they gave him up and KG is a super talented one.

if we could pull it off, i'm all for it. right now having two all stars instead of tracy mcgrady is worth pulling the trigger for. the days of a two superstar system has disappeared once shaq left LA. ship tmac for redd and package some deal with battier, head, james, francis, etc for either artest, maggette, josh smith, or jefferson.

And for anyone who thinks this is a coaching problem, you are WRONGggggg.

We can look at Boston again, they have an absolutely dumb coach in Doc Rivers, yet they are 19-2 (or 19-3?). Why? Because they have three players that have a lot of passion and want to win. KG, Paul Pierce, and Jesus are leading the team and getting all the scrubs involved.

Guess who was coaching T-mac in his Orlando days - Doc Rivers!

not a single guy you listed on the 2nd part of that list could hold Ray Allen or KG's jock

It could work, but remember, the Celtics still play great defense thanks to JVG's coordinator Tom Thibodeau. We'd have to get a defensive assistant and fiery coach too.

I wouldn't say let's tank. But trade is a good way to take advantage of our situation right now. Look at our record. This means our first round pick next year right now is much more valuable than at the beginning of the season :D So, let's pack this first round pick with some players for a really good star player now!

Have you watched the 15 or so games? We're tanking the season already.

Sure, I follow most of rocket's 24 games. The value of first round pick for next year is just like stocks. Sure it's tanking right now. But with the personnel and coach, I am sure we has rising period once in a while. At that time, the value will be much lower than now. So do it now, take advantage of our miserable performance :D

I think we're overestimating the value of T-Mac (at least in the eyes of non-Rox fans), you only have to read the posts on other teams' forum, the collective wisdom is that well..TMac has passed it...

No reason to be looking to the draft yet. And maybe I'll change my mind later... but the last thing the Rockets should do, even later in the season, is tank. They should go full bore for 82 and let their record tell the story.

This season should be a measuring stick for Yao-T-Mac. No longer can we assume that those two are going to work long-term. They shouldn't be given a free pass under a "tank" season so we repeat the 2005-06 nightmare and then trade our lotto pick for Rick Fox.

T-Mac and Yao should be playing their hearts out. No free passes this season as the unquestioned foundation of the team.

if we had a lock at selecting either Derrick Rose or OJ Mayo, I would demand that we tank, but since it's no guarantee I can't do it.

Tanking is not the solution. We don't have any real tradeable assets either. Yao did a pretty good job. Getting a better big guy for him is impossible.T-Mac for a guy like Redd might be the most realistic trade out there, but we shouldn't do anything like that right now. If nothing changes by the February deadline a package deal for T-Mac plus another player could be considered provided if we could benefit from it.I doubt if we can get better this year.
The guys have to get healthy, gell and fight back. There is no other way.

Wasn't there a player's poll on the most over-rated player in the NBA last year and TMac was top or very near the top?

It takes big time thinking and to be willing to spend the money. I don't see it being evident in recent Rocket's team planning.Rockets only chance is to build a team and develop some young talent, it will take three years! :p
