He might have been "unproven" to some, and sure, getting a contract for him seemed not easy with his status... but here's a little tidbit from the SportingNews... --------------- http://www.sportingnews.com/voices/sean_deveney/20010930.html THERE'S A GOOD REASON THESE PLAYERS AREN'T SIGNED September 30, 2001 Print it The new luxury tax is not the only reason so many quality players are still unsigned. Take a look at the top players who did not have contracts by the end of September: power forward Anthony Mason, point guard Rod Strickland, shooting guard Jim Jackson and guard/forward Isaiah Rider. As one NBA front office executive says, "You can look at the tax, but also look at these guys' backgrounds. The first question you ask yourself is, 'Is this worth the possible risk?' And the answer is, 'No.' " The troubles of Rider, Mason and Strickland are well-documented, but Jackson has stayed pretty clean off the court. "But you can't coach the guy," the executive says. "He wants to do what he wants to do, and you can't get him to fit into your plan. Everyone knows it." --------------- If this is true, I think MJ not cooperating was just a thing in GSW and he'll fit in a lot better in Houston (plus Rudy is how many times better a coach?)... It's possible MJ was making a tactically intelligent move during all of last season. Not listening to the coach and not following orders because he knew he was the guy they needed on the floor with Dampier, Foyle and Fortson out... with in mind the fact that he needs to present his "showtime" game and numbers especially with his free agency coming up next year. Remember, this guy came from no where and might have hussled and disobeyed not for the game, but only to up his value. Hopefully that is not true.
oops, let me bop myself on the head and run away now... no wait... let me go hit the guy who told me about this Marc Jackson article and let me then go bop myself and run away...
this proves to show what misinformation can cause! and that overdose of really hot salsa and chips at late night cause severe hallucinations ... should be marked up there with LSD...
