    Check out his statistics page for this season. Look at his shooting percentage with the number of days rest.

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/splits?statsId=3325

    With 2 or 3 days rest, he's over 45% from the floor. That's for 16 games. He shoots the best on Saturday.

    Cuttino shoots best on Wednesdays. His shooting percentage fluctuates with or without days off.

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/splits?statsId=3284

    Yao is shooting 52.8% against Midwest Division opponents and 53.6 against Western Conference opponents. He shoots the best on Sundays, but he has a 55.6% shooting percentage on Fridays. With 0 days rest, his shooting percentge is the worst at 50%. With 1 day rest, it goes up to 54%. With 2 days rest, it goes to 58%.

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/splits?statsId=3599

    Maurice shoots 49% on Fridays.

    JJ is affected by the numbers of days off in between games. He shoots 43-44% with 1-2 days off.

    Maybe its because he actually commits to defense this year, as opposed to years past.

    Anybody here who plays basketball can attest to this... the more energy you expend on defense, the more your offensive game will suffer... especially if you're not a big man.

    Nick, good point. Defense is the biggest difference, hence the repeat call by many here to lengthen the rotation. Of course the absence of Posey put more reliance on SF and others on defense. Had to get that alomst daily Posey reminder in!

    Pike is being paid too much for him to be playing so little mnutes. I would play Pike at 2 more and play MJ and Mobes more at the point to get Sf some rest; and no time for SF at the 2. To me shooting guard duties should be limited to Pike, Mobes and JJ. And SmallF limited to JJ, AD and Boki. Legitimately lengthening the rotation with increased roles for Boki, Pike, and AD will net serious benefits to the wear and tear of Mobes, SF and JJ. To me the one or two shots that someone like Boki misses is nothing compared to the amount SF misses when he is tired. NO wonder SF is not running more, JVG want to kill the man! Lengthen the rotation, since at this point the roster is packed with a bunch of veterans(except Boki) anyway, so play them.

    well...The correlation between Steve's shooting percentage and the number of rest days is NOT necessary affiliation. The complication of his shooting percentage made steve at sea.

    * try to adapt himself to JVG's inside-out system

    * switch to a new role -- more likely a true PG who try to get his teammates involved rather than a shooter who aims at score as much as he can

    * defer to Yao in offense

    * put more energy on D this season compared with years past

    * Super Bowl incident

    * trade rumors

    * mentality ...
