I can't stand floppers - when were there ever be a flopping call (should be free throw + possession)

A good buddy of mine (spurs fan) says that all championship teams need a good flopper. i dont ever recall a rockets flopper - for the most part Rockets get knocked down on their arses and sorta push off with their hands to go sliding across the floor. (robert horry)

stockton, hornacek, malone, rajah bell, evans, manu, divac - theyre all the same to me, a bunch of girls. get the charging call by your position, not by your hands flailing and facial expressions.

BUT - maybe we need one. hahah ... does v-span do that garbage? how bout any of the other 60 guards we picked up?

Hell no we don't need a flopper.

Battier's pretty good at drawing charges even without flopping. He uses defensive quickness to beat his man to the spot.

As soon as I saw this thread title, that's what I thought. The little I've watched Spanoulis, I have seen some pretty good flopping.

Yeah VSpan is a flopper and he has an uncanny ability to get out in front of his man as evidenced in the WC's against Paul, Lebron and Wade.

VSpan AND Battier will fill our quotient for floppers this season.

Last season our leader in drawing offensive fouls (flopping) was David Wesley with 16 and Yao with 12. I still can't figure out how a 7'6 guy can draw a foul. Coincedentally, the Rockets are last in the league in offensive fouls drawn.

If the game is called correctly, size shouldn't matter. A player does not have to be knocked down for a charge to be called.

Worse than Yao is a real flopper, Ben Wallace. He flopped on a Stromile Swift post move at a game I was at last year. Swift cannot knock Ben Wallace on purpose, much less incidentally.

Eduardo Najera is the only flopper I want. 2 reasons:
    1) He hustles, gets in your nose, annoys you..the kind of guy you want on your team and hate to play against.
    2) It seems like Yao gets like 3 personal fouls off Najera's flops. If he's going to flop, might as well flop for us.

I hate flopping, too, but I honestly can't get mad at players who flop for doing it. It's stupid not to flop until they change the way they call the game.

Don't they sometimes give techs for obvious flopping? I personally hate offensive flopping more than defensive flopping. It's the bail out factor. Players should not be rewarded for pummeling into the lane wrecklessly and chucking the ball up and flailing about. *ahem* dirk *ahem* It's even worse when then don't get they call and then whine to the ref.

I understand it's too difficult for the referees to see the floppings during the games when all the players are running around at the speed of 30 mph. But what they can do is to review each game after it's finished. If the replay shows a player has clearly flopped, give him a one-game suspension or something . You can't change the scores of the game in which he flopped. But still the possible consequence can at least make the players think twice before they flop in the future.
