    Hey guys.....

I had a situation occur yesterday, where I just met some Rockets fan/Sem-iLow level organization employee... We got to talking and he said a couple things to me that I had not heard before. I read most of the chron articles, and this board multiple times daily, so I dont miss much..... BUT maybe I did miss these tidbits... But I am gonna write it out.

DISCLAIMER- This guy may be bs, He may have read it when I didnt, or he may just be blabbin. But he did know his Rockets. He works for the Organization but not necessairly close to the team or anything. But I could understand how he would hear all this.

He seemed honest, but who knows..... What I am hoping, is that if he is legit.... Maybe one of our "known" insiders can confirm, because I see this guy about once or twice a month in my store. So I could prod him in the future.

I dont know, if this is legit though, I suppose its worth typin out.

    Soooooo.

I was at work yesterday and I was just walking following this guy I work with (a casual fan, not an addict like me.) And I was kind of telling him about Spanoulis and what kind of a player Battier is and all that stuff. And when him and I separated a bit later, I was walking away and this random guy just kind of steps toward me and asks if I had seen the Spanoulis Game at the WBC. I said no, but of course I had read about it. We just had some other amicable chat about the Rockets, but as it is when I meet the occasional hardcore fan, I was suprised/pleased to meet someone to speak in such specifics about the team to.

This guy is by no means high up in the organization, but not at the bottom either..... He seemed to not really be worried or anything about telling me, or attempting to be covert. And maybe he just read some stuff I did not/or dont remember. But....

He said that We basically had a deal, or the parameters of a deal in place with Mike James. That there was even some sort of loose verbal agreement, or at lease both parties seemed settled. It was on the last day, really in the last few hours of his Free Agency, that MJ demanded the trade kicker. He said that he had heard MJ was convinced Houston would give it to him. And had he known Houston would decline, may not have asked for that. But he did say, that going into that last day, we thought we had it done.

    What do yall think?

Thanks for typing that all out Francis3422, nearly any new Rocket information is good right now. The only problem with the thread is that it is nothing new. Everyone here has kind of heard the same thing the guy was telling you. Not anything new basicly heh.

Explain this to me: You guys are saying this information isn't new just because it's 2 months after the fact and everybody already knew it?

What I don't understand is, if he really wanted to come to Houston (and wouldn't have even talked about the trade kicker if he thought it would break the deal), then why sign with Minny? The trade kicker wasn't, as I understand the employee's words, a make or break situation...

Edit: Some of y'all need to work on reading comprehension

Tierre Brown, thanks for not crucifying me. I did not know the situation had been explained in such detail as it apparently has.

    But, to answer your question....

He made it sound like the two sides had a deal, some agreement in place. And then just out of the blue MJ says, well I want a trade kicker. He said that to Minny also and when Houston refused, MJ got really mad.

and the two sides just postured and it all fell apart.

I think this thread needs to be locked before anyone else wastes time reading and then more time understanding.

CD said on radio the next day after MJ went to Minny that Rox told MJ that they would get back to him about the trade kicker because Yao and Tmac dont have it. According to CD, the next thing they knew was MJ went for Minny and took less money in doing so.

I was not aware that amount of depth on the info was available.

For instance..... I never knew that we had really a
"agreement" before the idea of the kicker entered the conversation.

I didnt know that was out there, just relaying what this fellow had kind of wrapped in secrecy...
