Maybe I'm looking too much into these past T. Williams reports...

....anyone else notice that the guy doesn't talk much about getting better or working harder?

Usually with young players, you hear them say a lot about what they need to improve on, i.e. shooting, rebounding, defense, etc. I don't get that vibe from Williams. It seems like he believes that he's "good enough" and that he just need an opportunity. To me that seems to be the biggest reason why he's not getting playing time. He's not willing to admit the limitations in his current game, and shows little willingness to make up his shortcomings.

I know many here clamor for Williams to start getting major minutes. But I really do believe the Rockets are doing the best for him and for the team. Make him understand that he's simply not good enough yet, and have him improve on his game, on playing with his teammates, before giving him an opportunity.

I'm not too sure about him not talking about improving. I think I have heard him talk about learning from Battier, and he did work with Payton before his draft so I do think he wants to improve. I haven't really seen him in enough interviews or games to claim he doesn't think he needs to improve.

However I do agree with you that the Rockets are probably just getting him ready and working him into the system.

Basketball just comes natural to him kind of like Mcgrady. I went to college with him, and know personally that the dude is motivated to better his game. He has been on the team for what two weeks now, just give it time his minutes will come.

I typically don't read too much in to Twitter, but T-Will's ego is through the roof.

A week or so after he arrived in Houston, fans were flooding his page with "your time will come"/"be patient" tweets, and he responded to one of them: "Nah, I'm far from an experiment, homie."

He does seem to declare I just need an opportunity more than I need to get better...

I understand what you are saying, but, it is not about what he says.... it is about what he does. Can you or me, say that he doesn´t work on his game as much as all the other guys that say "I need to get better handling the ball"???

You say that young guys tend to say what parts of their game they should improve, but do you truly believe all of them work hard to do so???

I really don´t care about words when the subject is improving a players game. The most improved player in recent years was Carl Landry. And he worked 1000x more then he talked about improvement. That is just how some players are, some need to talk alot about what they are going do, some just.. work. Of course I know some don´t work nor talk, they just get paid, but, you don´t expect a young guy like him, on a cheap contract to be a lazy guy.

And I like his confidence. That is what makes good players, superstars. You need skill, but if you don´t think you are the best, you will not be the best, as long as you keep working hard when no one is looking at you everything will be ok.

Wow, now we hate on players with confidence?

WTF? I'm sure T-Will puts just as much work off the court as the others but he's got natural talent. He's not Like Chase who is a one trick pony.

I think T-mac has left a bad taste in this board's mouth when it comes to talented players.

You don't make it this far in pro basketball without a fair bit of self-confidence. He just hasn't mastered the PR of being humble, and taking it one game at a time, and the good lord willing, good things will happen.

Which I believe is true. At such a high level, especially in an organization like the Rockets, every player works hard, and what will really help is getting out there and playing in REAL games rather than in practice where nobody is full throttle.

I do believe he will deliver once given the opportunity and playing time, he has way too much talent not to pan out.

As for his confidence/cockiness, I love it. Thank god we finally have someone like that. I don't know many stars in the league who hate the spot-light and aren't cocky.

It's crazy, this fascination with TWill's attitude, tweets, playing time... you can tell we're having a tough season, because if we were winning consistently nobody would care.

It's pretty obvious to me that we're just curious about him, want him to contribute, and hope he lives up to his draft position. But all this conjecture about his motivation and how hard he does or doesn't work or whether or not he wants to improve... it's all pretty silly at this point.

Give it some time folks. We'll all know what we have in TWill soon enough.

To be fair... the tweet he responded to was blasting him for not being good enough to get on the floor.

When Chris Mannix was on 610 yesterday, he mentioned he had access to the Nets camp from the beginning. He said the only player to be NBA ready from the first day of training camp, was Terrence Williams. Just give him time, he definitely puts in the work.

What's up with all the twill hate?? The guy hasn't even learned the system completely, still hasn't had enough PT, so how do we know if he's improving or not? How do we know he's not working to get better, especially after he tweeted that comment about waiting or getting better? He can handle the ball, he can pass, he can defend...it's not like he's got a lot of holes to his game. Shooting isn't that bad and it may be difficult for someone built like him to make it significantly better. Right now it's about learning the offense and pickign up things from vets. Mental stuff...

I like having a guy with some confidence and swagger on this squad. This team sorely needs it.

If someone wants to embed the video below it is a pre-draft video showing Terrence and Gary Payton working out and also doing some basketball related drills twice a day. Of course this was before the 2009 draft but Gary looked like he was working him pretty hard.

It seems like he is a hard worker but he needs to keep confident (won't be a problem) but realize that there is always room for improvement. I mean the Nets of all teams banished him. If that is not a wake up call I don't know what is. Anyways, it is a pretty good video.
