Seriously the trade they made with the Nets really hurt them. They are playing themselves right out of contention. Jazz should have killed them tonight and at one point had a 21 pt lead but lost it in the 3rd and 4th qtr. Here's to beating Indiana and Dallas next.

    Win 16 and 17!

Rockets are 2.5 games out of the lead in the SW Division.

Could the Mavs miss the playoffs?

No way the Mavs miss the playoffs. The Suns might with their upcoming schedule. But the Mavs have it pretty easy for the next few weeks.

If they miss the playoffs, it would definitely help with the pain of losing Yao.

They got outran early but they got back into it and almost won after having to play the Lakers last night and then they play the Jazz in Utah where they are best in the league?

I would hardly count them out...I am pretty sure they will beat us on Thursday. I hope not. I hope I can eat that crow. I hate them so much but they still look solid.

yeah i see us losing to. us winning a 17 th game in a row (if we beat the pacers) would be too perfect.

and knocking them down to just about the 8th seed. yah too perfect

It would be kind of funny to see both the Suns and the Mavs miss the playoffs after making knee-jerk trades.

Mavs won't miss the playoffs. They have a ridiculously easy home stretch coming up.

Thanks for the common sense. The Mavs should finish the year winning a high percentage of their games.

this loss will just make them even more determined when they face the rockets.

Not to be a bad sport but I'm hoping for a Dirk suspension for the Thursday's game ;)

A Dirk Suspension and us knocking off the hated Mav's would just be icing on the cake. If they get knocked out of the playoffs, I will not shed a tear. However, part of me wants revenge for that 40 pts shelacking they gave us in game 7.

i hope he doesn't. rockets need to find out where they stand against the mavs at full-strength.

The Mavs lost close games to the Spurs and Lakers, and almost won against the jazz in a back to back. I wouldn't underestimate the mavs, theyre still pretty good. What's holding them back is Josh Howard sucking. If he buys in to what they're trying to do with Kidd, they will be contenders again. I think our streak ends against them thursday.

I think cementing their place in the standings takes priority right now.

isn't it weird how fans excuse other teams "barely" losing to the elite teams and yet when the rockets do that, it's b/c they are not very good?

Well I wasn't one of those fans. I realized the tough schedule we had early in the season and we were still trying to figure out our team. I gave them the benefit of the doubt that they would pull through.

I hadn't thought of that possibility. Dirk & Yao out, Deke negates Dampy and the rest of the Mavs are no match for the Rockets. We win by 41!!! :D

I can live with that. :)

Oh, and all those people who want us to play the Mavs at full strength, remember how many games we had to play against them last season without Yao. It seems like the Mavs never have to face us with all our players, so I think a little karma is in order with a Dirk suspension.

The Dallas game Thursday is winnable with or without Dirk against us. The Mavs are hurting bad in the chemistry department. They may right the ship...hopefully not this week, though.

People talk about this like some great crime was committed. Did anyone see that game? We gave up. We were completely flat. It's not some illegal pick and roll that lead to a three-pointer that knocked us out of the playoffs and the opposing team into the Finals. We straight up quit in that game against the Mavs.

With the next 9 games out of 10 at home, I'm not too worried, especially having NJ, NY, Charlotte, Indiana, Miami all in a row with a day's rest in between of each game. It's favorable
