This must mean that the Mavs aren't going to trade Nash. Or if they do, it will be for another PG. They'll miss NVE coming off the bench and providing energy.

    Nash
    Finley
    Nowitzki/Jamison/Mills
    Jamison/Nowitzki/LaFrentz/Fortson
    LaFrentz/Bradley

    Pretty good lineup there.

This ought to put them right back in the mix. Cant wait till mid-season to see who has the best mix.

Wow. What is Golden State thinking? Did they get hosed in that deal, or what!!!? Cuban must have had some exotic pictures of the daughter of the Warrnor's owner. Wow.

Man. That is a lot of offense. I think the key will be if Fortson returns to his previous rebounding prowess.

The Mavs getting Welsch could be a huge steal. I remember Don Nelson being very high on him the year he was drafted.

Are the stupid Warriors freakin stupid? This did not happen. This is plain stupid. What the freak are the Warriors doing? Does Mark Cuban own the Warriors secretly? This is a joke. NOW ALL OF THE POWER RANKINGS has changed.....man......the best of the west got even better.

In addition to Jamison, the Warriors' leading scorer the last season, the Mavericks also receive power forward Danny Fortson, small forward Chris Mills and guard Jiri Welsch. Along with Van Exel, the Mavs send Avery Johnson, Evan Eschmeyer and Popeye Jones to Golden State.

Jamison is better than Van Exel. Fortson, Welsh, and Mills are all better than Johnson, Eschmeyer and Popeye Jones. THis is sad. Very sad for the Warriors. What were they thinking?!? And the Mavs...ahaha I guess they don't care about their player coach Avery Johnson. And Mark Cuban must not like sitting next to Popeye Jones every game. Haha.....

Horrible trade for Warriors. This is a joke...it has to be.

See.......and some of you say the trades we propose are unrealistic and too much of a dream. UGH....what were the Warriors thinking...please explain

Jamison is owed 69 mil over the next 5 years

NVE is owed 35 mil over the next 3 years, so it allows the Warriors to NOT long term build around Jamison, focusing on the talents of those who remain, while giving them a top notch PG to deliver the ball to Murphy, JRich, Dunleavy and others.

talent for talent, Jamison is the better player in a world where frontcourt players are harder to find.

The Warriors have to move Jamison because he is not big enough to play PF, and with Murphy, you don't need him to. And at small forward they have Dunleavy and that Welsch kid to develop.

Wow. Dallas better make something happen with this team cause their cap is screwed for the next 3 years.

I wouldn't exactly call Jamison the tough interior defender/rebounder they have been looking for though.

Troy MurphY? He has no chance against any of the starters in the West except for Eddie Griffin.

And Jiri Welsch? THEY TRADED HIM TOO! For what??? Popeye Jones and Evan Eschemeyer?!? Avery Johnson doesn't even play anymore!

Big joke. For the Mavericks....they are a very good team now.

    Nash/
    Finley/Welsch
    Jamison/Najera/Mills
    Nowitzki/Fortson
    Lafrentz/Bradley

The only good thing is they got Mills....who can hopefully cause some havoc there.

... And thus, the Warriors are officially out of the running for the eighth seed.

Looks like it's just going to be us and Seattle.

Actually good for both teams imo.

The have a plethora of guys who can play the wing. Dunleavy, Richardson, now Pietrus. Murphy is their 4 of the future, so Jamison wasn't fitting there. They needed a stud pg or c, and Exel fits the bill.

Mavs eat a ton of contracts again. They give up their best pg(imo).

Now they go with "not as small as before" small ball. :)

But GS should've definitely held out for a better offer.

What happened tonight gives me hope that someday we will we will be able to trade Moochie for Garnet.

    *Fingers crossed*

Sounds like a big-time salary dump for GS, so that's how you should analyze it. Nobody's trading for Avery Johnson thinking he's going to be a factor in a winning team. Jamison was a great character and a loyal warrior for the team (no pun intended), but he's really more of a complementary player. He could be very useful as a third or fourth option on a stacked Dallas team, but as Friendly Fan pointed out, he's owed $69 mil for five years ... not exactly the kind of player GS can afford to MAX out as a cornerstone.

It's too bad GS couldn't have parlayed this move into keeping Arenas somehow, or managing to get Nash instead of NVE. That steaming pile of crap they got in return won't contribute a thing to this year's team, but at least the deal will give them a bit of flexibility in future years. After all, it's not like they were going anywhere as is. The loss of Welsch is a bit sad, though, as they never really got to see what he could do.

Good news. GS is now officially out of the race for the 8th playoff spot. One less competitor.

When will Phoenix trade away Marbury and Marion?

Troy Murphy played 31.8 minutes at power forward this past season, scoring 11.7 points on .451 shooting, with an excellent .841 from the line. He got 10.2 rebounds per game.

I would pencil him in at 36 minutes, 13 points, and 11.5 rebounds a game. For any team where the power forward is not the first option, those are good numbers.

When I thought of what the Mavericks needed to contend, my thoughts went immediately to a face-the-basket tweener who prefers to score from the perimeter and is weak on defense and burdened with a big contract.
