Funny this guy was apart of the Dwight meetings and then he bolts for Dallas, I'm sure they gave him a great offer though.

I would venture to guess that a team has never had two of their asst. GMs hired away to become GMs in the same offseason.

The league is clearly impressed by what our front office has done here.

Now we're going to have: Rockets Northeast (Philly), Rockets West (Sacramento), and Rockets Oklahoma (Mavs) ;)

Nice promotion for Gerrson. Good luck to him (but not the Mavs).

He definitely does not have the authority to make a move like that...that would be Cuban's call.

This just means the League thinks we have something figured out. But that success won't translate if the destination team is in a terrible basketball situation. Look at Rich Cho in Charlotte. Former Sam Presti disciple making his BIG MOVE for Al F****ing Jefferson when the roster is still raw guys and garbage. And don't forget former Thunder whiz kid Hennigan getting killed in the Dwight swap. (although Vucevic has worked out pretty well and avoiding Bynum was a blessing, I still think a trade with the Rockets directly would have worked out better).

In that regard, Hinkie is in the best situation. He can actually start over from scratch after the Holiday trade. Rosas, on the other hand, just got stuck at 35-year-old star and two new contracts (Calderon and Ellis) that will look awful pretty much as soon as the season starts.

Of course, the loss could hurt us if the staff, not Morey, was the prime driver behind recent moves. I don't think that's the case though. Morey's present plan looks a LOT like Morey's plan when he was the assistant GM at Boston. That is to say, I think Morey is so specifically and personally involved in his moves that he can "imprint" his philosophy on new hires. Think of R.C. Buford in this regard. The Spurs have lost plenty of FO people over the years and are still savvy as all get out.
