This in the Chicago Tribune says that the Mavericks may offer $3mill to the Rockets for our picks. The Mavericks, everyone's favorite trading partner these days because they throw in the maximum allowed $3 million on every deal, reportedly are trying to buy their way into the draft with a $3 million offer to a team with multiple picks, like Houston or Orlando. Such deals are generally rejected by the league, like a Bulls-Celtics deal last February in which the Bulls were to take Walter McCarty and get a No. 1 pick. The NBA said it smacked of buying a pick, so it killed the deal. There's also talk the Mavericks will try to reunite buddies Don Nelson and Tim Hardaway, a free agent. ------------------ Fear the Spear
Thank God the NBA has some semblence of control over these matters unlike baseball where you buy yourself a penant or at least an opportunity to be in the championships. This is one area I have to hand it to Purbis... I like Cuban, but for God's sake, don't let the man just outright buy himself a championship. ------------------ "I had mine chewed off by a boss one time." -- Behad leaves us wondering if he gets hazard pay...
