Mavericks Head Coaxh Avery Johnson fined.. http://www.nba.com/news/johnson_050425.html NEW YORK, April 25 – Dallas Mavericks head coach Avery Johnson has been fined $10,000 for failing to leave the court in a timely manner, it was announced today by Stu Jackson, NBA Senior Vice President Basketball Operations. The incident occurred at the conclusion of the Mavericks 98-86 loss Saturday to the Houston Rockers at American Airlines Center. HAHA..HAHAHA...HAHAHA
For a second I read "fined" as "fired". I was like Wow that was quick! followed by a sense of grief because I am counting on him for the fall of Dallas. Once I realized he was only fined, I sighed in relief.
actually firing him leads to dallas fall.. no one's gonna fire a coach in the middle of the playoffs.. there's no benefit to it.. just all downside..
Avery doesn't care about the $10,000. But this does help us. This was not the game to go ballistic about and he knows it, and he's probably been told that by the Dallas brass and/or his mentors. His team played poorly, and I agree with many posts here that the Rockets are going to foul, when in doubt, throughout this series and the next . But what's ironic is we could have easily lost that game after the bogus offensive foul on Wesley when we were up by six with less than 2 mins. to go. Avery lost some cred here, and for no good reason. Apparently the rookie label has already affected him. I always liked Avery . I think the ref fraternity is going to be ready, and so will JVG.
In other news, Mobley got fined $15,000 for an obscene gesture directed at the crowd after the loss to Seattle.
what is he complaining about again? they took 42 FT's to our 20. if anything, they got all the calls. that's why we will win tonight. the FT's will even out, that will give us an extra 10 points so we can keep up with the mavs since dirk will top 30 tonight.
