Wow. Just went to the UFL website and checked out all of the team rosters... a ton of familiar names in that league. A couple of ex-Texans too.
Definitely surprising to see players like Culpepper & Garcia. Didn't check out all the teams but definitely some names there. Surprising that someone like Culpepper hasn't received a call by all these teams that are dying for a QB right now like Carolina...I mean St. Pierre?
I love scouring UFL rosters just to see names I haven't seen in years. As far as Clarett goes, I want him to do well. It would be a good story.
I think the reason some of the UFL players, particularly QBs, have had trouble getting into the NFL is because the buyouts in UFL contracts are more than the NFL is willing to pay for a one or two week substitute. I saw a story on ESPN a couple days ago about how UFL players are upset about how high the buyouts are.
(Seth Wand....lulz) Nice to see Charles Spencer still playing and making an attempt at football. These players don't get in the spotlight anymore or make big money, but at least they get to play REAL pro football somewhere. I never liked Arena football, World League or even Canadian football as an alternative to NFL. I understand the need to distinguish the product apart from NFL instead of it being NFL rejects league or 1 level above semi-pro league, but part of the allure of watching a lower league IS based on possibility that players CAN get a call-up to the big league. Arena football is defunct and out of the way, maybe UFL can steal some of that audience though it still has to contend with immovable college football. To think there was talk of Michael Vick playing in the UFL after we was out of jail like Maurice Clarrett here. I'm betting the league front office is upset they couldn't reel him in to gain some attention
