In all my years, I don't think I've visited that site more than 5 times.

Hard to believe. There was a time when Drudge seemed to own breaking political news but he seems almost irrelevant now. I thought his popularity flatlined a few years ago.

The Nielsen Company at least as far as I can remember, doesn't track metrics outside the the US. Americans aren't the only people who use the Internet.

For someone that popular, you would think he would try and make his site look slightly more modern. At the very least get rid of that terrible 1990s Microsoft Frontpage look he has going on. It makes it unbearable to look at if you ask me.

Google drives 30% of news traffic on the web.
Drudge drives 7% of news traffic on the web.

    Interesting, even surprising. And...

    http://www.psfk.com/2009/02/us-report-internet-usage-by-age.html

30% of all people on the internet in America are ages 18-32.
7% of all people on the internet in America are ages 64-72.

    Drudge Report?

Isn't that FOX's "Breaking News" source? Or is it the other way around?

To me, that's the appeal. I don't check it out as often as I used to, but I still do. But there's no blog, only as much commentary as he can fit in one line, and most of the important political news, mixed in with some less important political news and other news. It's efficient, and it works.

To be fair though, I'd bet that a good half of those statistics come from political operatives. People in politics, on either side, are obsessed with the Drudge Report. They watch it constantly, and campaigns make decisions based on whether something showed up on the Drudge Report or not. The Drudge Report is to politicians what SportsCenter is to athletes.

    Here is your answer.

The only people I know who visit Drudge are tea-curious freeper birthers, most of whom use AOL and are nearing the social security threshold.

Seriously though, Drudge's transgressions have been well documented. Dude is a disservice to news.

15th anniversary of Drudge's legendary and rare public appearance at the National Press Club, during the height of Lewinsky. They all absolutely hate him in there and the host is a total d*** to him.

Interesting to see how prescient he was about the future of news at the dawn of the internet age.

I thought it was based on New York Post lettering? In any case since he had a Knowles-type reputation for breaking big stories online as an "underdog," the cruddy website design is probably nostalgic of Isikoff/Goldberg and all of that.

How relevant is Drudge now? I used to visit his site daily. Now, maybe twice a year.
