Well he's going to expire and he knows he's starting material and several teams have shown interest in him. If he decides not to play back up for the rest of his career, do you think the Texans should make a run at him?
Sure, why not! Let's add to our collection of backup-QBs-not-good-enough-to-be-starters. Maybe, if we pick up a third one, they'll all cancel each other out and disappear, like a game of Bejeweled. IMO, Cassel is going to want Schaub-like money, so I'd pass on him and draft one instead.
Well, he did something that Tom Brady never did. Throwing for 400+ yards in consecutives games And its just matt CASSEL, with only one "L"
i'm at a loss, still, about the blind hatred of schaub. i'm not even his biggest fan but this constant grass-is-greener push to replace him with every single possibly available QB... mccoy, vick, mcnabb, now cassel... donovan mcnabb has an 84.7 QB rating; cassel's is 85.3. schaub's? 91.0, people. do you realize, in his 9-year career, that mcnabb has posted a 90+ rating just twice? and that vick never did it? in fact, his career high 81.6. he may not be an upper-tier QB, but when healthy, schaub has been very, very good. and he's still only made 20 career starts. his injuries are a concern; otherwise, QB is one of our lower priorities.
Two knocks on Schaub are that he can't stay healthy and he turns the ball over too much. When Schaub is 'on', he is great. But he has a tendency to turn the ball over at the wrong time. He gets caught trying too hard to make a play that even Joe Montana couldn't make. Texans have a tough decision to make with Schaub after next season. If he plays like he did against the Packers, I have no problem with re-signing him. If not, then we might need to look in another direction.
Maybe that's becuase they don't play from behind that often with Brady, thus not needing it to throw it around to play catch up.
IMO there is no chance the Texans will even consider talking to him. QB is not on the list of priorities now..
