He has said he wants to opt out of his contract and test free agency. He would be a nice replacement for Battier if Battier is somehow traded in the summer. His game is very similar to Shane's. The dude has a decent jumper and a legit defender. What do you guys think? Would you want him as a Rocket?

The Rockets should've signed Barnes in 08 instead of inking Barry to a two year deal and paying Brent more than twice as much as what Barnes made.
Not that Jared Jeffries is anything to write home about. But Rockets have the market cornered on defensive minded, offensively challenged small forwards.

while i may like him more if he was on our team, the guy is a punk. he has a terrible attitude and has started numerous fights. with that said, that kind of fire might be exactly what this team is missing.
This is why we overpaid for Trevor you can get equal or better value for less, and I am no Barnes fan, but his defense, energy and competitiveness were pretty evident in the Boston series. He has value......and is cheaper than other similar players we have on the Roster....in fact about $14 million tied up in 2 of them....when we could get Barnes for only $2 million.... Barnes is a much better value than Battriza... DD

I have never been a big Matt Barnes fan, but as an overall roster move, I would rather have him for $2 million a year than Battriza for $14 million. Barnes would be a great fit on the Rockets, IMO. DD
