is it at the IMAX in north houston or are they showing it at moody gardens in galveston? thatd be better
Whoa, whoa, whoa. They're showing The Matrix on IMAX?! Are you serious?! I bet that's awesome! I don't live in the Houston area anymore; is this just a Houston thing?
It's not a Houston thing. I know they have been showing movies on IMAX screens for a while now. In fact, I saw Final Fantasy on an IMAX screen, and I didn't much care for it. Since the movies are not filmed with the special IMAX film, they can really only use a third of the screen. And since the sound system is apparently set up differently from most theaters, the audio of the movies just didn't sound right. Too bassy, sort of. I assume all IMAX theaters would be the same. Honestly, I really didn't think it was worth the extra money.
Jesus, Raven, a little emphatic? It's showing at the Edwards Marqee theater off of I-10. I plan on seeing it sometime soon.
LOL No, I realize IMAX isn't just a Houston phenomenon. I was just wondering if The Matrix was just showing in Houston.
Yes, it is... but it isnt in IMAX format..it is just the 70mm version of the Matrix:Reloaded showing at the theater at I-10 and Silber.... I know this because my brother in law is the guy in charge of the projectionist at that theater...he was just telling me earlier that if I wanted to make the drive, he would let me in for free.. Can you just imagine the fight scenes in that movie, but like 50 feet tall?...Damn!
70mm meaning the normal theater version? Like how much of the screen does it use. Is it worth the 12 bucks? Also - Can you bro hook me up too?
I dont know much about what size they normally are, he rattled it off so quick..I know I heard 70mm in there somewhere.. I dont know if it is worth it..I havent even seen it yet. as for the other...*shrugs*... depends on whether he really meant it, or if he was just drunk..
From what I remember reading, the IMAX people (whoever they are ) have developed a new method of transferring 70mm films into an IMAX format that retains the quality of the original. Lucas is supposed to be, if he hasn't already, making at least one of the recent Star Wars movies (boo! do "The Empire Strikes Back"! Hell, get the same director to do your next flick, you blithering dunderhead!) into this format for limited runs at IMAX theatres to see how it plays with the public. Don't ask me for a link, but what I recall reading was that this new method was highly successful. Whether they used this on the Matrix or the inferior (imo), but fun, sequel is an open question. I've been waiting to see how this technique works out, as the list of grand movies that could benefit would reach into the dozens, easily.
