You know, the things they have/had at brookstone or sharper image. Does anyone have a massage chair? Has it been worth the money? Does it last? Is one brand better than another and what features do you find most important? I've read a bunch of user reviews and articles but wanted real live clutchfan input. Other than brookstone, sharper image or relax the back store, is there anywhere else I should look? I'm leery of buying such a thing on line. Thanks.
They don't have stores in Houston but Havertys Furniture (Dallas, Tyler, etc) have a nice selection. go to www.havertys.com and do a search. I work at the Tyler store and enjoy them regularly - no electrical problems so far in our floor models.
I looked into buying them, but never got around to it. You can probably go to Relax Your Back and then find a comparable model online for cheaper. I don't know about durability etc tho. Those were concerns of mine too. But damn if there aren't days I wish I had bought one.
Not sure if they sell them in the U.S. but Osim makes unbelievable massage chairs. http://www.osim.com/category/massage_chairs.aspx
We bought one of the HTT (Human Touch Technologies) chairs from Sharper Image about 3 years ago. It's still going strong and always the most popular chair in the house when we have guests over. It was only about $1600 - a total bargain for what it offered. We're getting the 3 year itch and casting eyes at some other chairs though - some of the new ones measure you and massage your whole body - the spine lengthening ones feel pretty good - I think it was a panasonic. However, our original model won't quit despite some heavy use, so we can't get a new one. Basically massage chair >>>> pool table for something in the same price bracket. Our pool table is freaking lonely and I'd like to replace it with something more useful.
I've read good things about HTT. There's a japanese brand called Fujikura that seems rated higher b/c of the spine lenghening and other features. And it's a little cheaper. Anyways, thanks for the feedback. If I can get one that runs 3-5 years, I think it's 1500 well spent.
