There are now reports of a third shooter who has opened fire on Fort Hood. One policeman is down. So far there are 7 people reported dead, and 12 wounded. There are also reports of two different crime scenes: the SPC and Howve Theater on Battalion Ave. One person is in custody. There are unconfirmed reports that one of the shooters is surrounded by police in the 42006 building on Fort Hood. That source tells KCEN the shooter has a high-powered rifle and is aiming to kill. Killeen ISD says all Fort Hood schools are on lockdown. Temple ISD is on a "soft" lockdown. Parents will be able to pick their children up at the normal times, though they may experience delays. Now they're saying "military uniforms," and 9 dead, 20 wounded. I would expect suicide before apprehension if these guys were distressed soldiers. But who knows at this point. Boy oh boy, if they aren't distressed soldiers, this thread will be headed to D&D. RIP victims, and blessings to their families.

i texted my friend who is an ER doc up there but he hasn't responded. he is probably fine but i am guessing the ER is insane right now. wow....they just said the captured shooter was a MAJOR! they also said he had an "arabic" sounding name whatever the hell that means.
I would point out the case of the sergeant in Iraq who went over the edge and shot people just a couple of months ago. I'll save the D&D stuff until we know for sure who is responsible, but I think there is some recent precedent for soldiers going on a shooting spree. Certainly, they've unfortunately been having large numbers of suicides for the past several years as well. Fort Hood is out literally in the middle of nowhere, if you've never been there. Literally hours from anywhere else. If people may be thinking terrorism, I have a hard time believing that anybody would drive all the way out there for a shooting spree. There are many better terrorist targets that are easier to reach.
Very sad news. Glad to find out my friend's boyfriend was off today from there. He's packing for re-deployment.
Maybe the tours should be shorten. 1year plus is horrible. Being out there so long, you come home thinking everyone is a terrorist.
