The ESRB has rated it for the 360 and PS3. Not confirmation, but a pretty good indicator that we may see a (XBLA/PSN?) release for the game.
If they could include Capcom vs SNK 2 I would be happy....those 2 games are some of my favorite fighting games.
This would be incredible. MVC2 is probably my favorite fighting game hands down. When is Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix coming out anyway?
Holy crap that would be awesome. My favorite game of all time. I thought this game couldn't be re-released because of the Marvel license? The problem with the PS2 version is it wasn't a good port, unlike the Dreamcast version which was arcade perfect. I hope this will be too.
Latest word from Capcom is that it will be out before the end of the year. As to the original news... meh. I suppose it's cool, but I can already play it on MAME just fine. Yeah, I know I can't play online that way, but hey... it's overrated anyhow. A little too much button mashing goes into that game. Capcom vs. SNK 2 and Guilty Gear X2 are both better games, hands down. And soon, SF2 HD Remix will be, too.
You might be thinking of Marvel vs Capcom 1. AFAIK I don't think anyone has pulled off emulating MvC2 at a decent speed. I guess it's easy to pick up and button mash for first timers, but there's tons of technique once you get past the basic concepts. I might be wrong, but I think MvC2 still has the biggest tournament scene of the three games. I like all of them a lot though...especially GG. I'll throw in the Samurai Shodown franchise too, although the gameplay is not that tight.
MvC2 isn't in MAME. It can be played with a Dreamcast emulator, but won't run perfectly. MvC2 is fun because of the huge array of characters and 3 man tag teams. They need to add a remixed soundtrack when they rerelease it because the original music blows (character select screen - ugh).
Huh... you're right. Guess I've never played it. I'll look forward to the experience then... ...but I have to admit I have trouble picturing anything topping Capcom vs. SNK 2.
So if the ESRB rating wasn't enough: http://www.xbox360achievements.org/game/marvel-vs-capcom-2/achievements/ (at least, I think this is reliable) Also, apparently there is a site offering preorders for MvC Tournament Edition Arcade Sticks. Don't know if it is legit though.
When I saw this thread I sold my copy for $80. I was literally thinking about this thread last week wondering if it would ever come out.
Oh sweet my favorite fighting game of all time. I can't really stand the traditional fighting games anymore. I need the air combos, the switching team members, tons of combos, tech hits, etc etc. Just a lot of things happening at a time! LETS GO CRAZY!
Everytime I go in to play MvC2 I get all excited about that stuff, and the huge character list, then I remember its only 4 buttons and I get bored.
I remember seeing your thread in the Buy/Sell/Trade forum. I thought, "Man, I really hope this isn't one of the few times where an ESRB rating means nothing." Fortunately, it is practically confirmed. And if anything, an achievements list might indicate it is pretty close to release. I think Capcom has an event near the end of the month. Might be a good time to announce this (unless they only plan on doing some small PR for it).
