Details about the crash were not immediately available from officials, but state police said that the accident occurred on Interstate 295 in Hamilton Township. The limousine collided with a disabled delivery truck in a southbound lane around 3 a.m., police said. The two announcers were taken to the Helene Fuld Medical Center in Trenton, where a nursing supervisor said both men were still being evaluated and were in stable condition. Information on their injuries was not immediately available. The accident is being investigated by troopers at the Wilburtha Barracks, police said.

Both Fratello, 55, and Albert, 60, were cut on the face and Albert sustained a concussion, state police spokesman Julian Castellanos said. The men were being held for observation at Helene Fuld Medical Center in Trenton, where they were taken after the 2:55 a.m. accident. No further information on their conditions was available, Castellanos said. Neither of the two men in the delivery truck was injured, he said. Limousine driver Michael Breges sustained a broken pelvis in the accident, Castellanos said. Breges was also taken to Helene Fuld, and information about his condition was not immediately available. A nursing supervisor said that both Albert and Fratello were being evaluated and were in stable condition. The supervisor hung up without giving his name. Calls to the hospital for further information were not immediately returned. The accident occurred about five miles east of Trenton near the I-195 interchange in Hamilton Township. Albert had been fired in September 1997 after pleading guilty to biting a woman during a sexual encounter in a Virginia hotel room. He received no jail time, and the assault conviction was erased from his record after he stayed out of trouble for a year. He was rehired by NBC less than two years later. Fratello, who coached the NBA's Atlanta Hawks and Cleveland Cavaliers, was hired by NBC in October. He was coach of the year in 1986 with the Hawks.

They seemed to be bickering a lot during the telecast, perhaps it was friendly banter, but Fratello was on the edge that last night. He was definately just throwing some strange stuff out there.
