Hi, I would like to know if there is any major difference between Buddinger and Martin. I just realized that they are both the same player. So if Martin is traded for Bosh, we will not be hurt as much as the wing.

Bud isn't as experienced and won't be able to put up the same numbers as Martin. Maybe in a few years Budinger will improve and will be able to.

Martin has a better midrange game, is better at creating for teammates and better at getting to the line. Also a better ball handler. And better at getting into the passing lanes.

One's a proven vet and the other was rookie last year.

One plays against bench players while the other plays against starters. One doesn't have experience, the other does. One gets to the line and is a +90% FT, the other does not. One is a SG, while the other is more of a SF.

Yes they have similar playing styles, but to say that Bud can jump right in and do everything that Martin can do is a rather big leap. One day, maybe.

Martin is and has always been a scorer. Budinger looks to become a very solid starting role player like Brent Barry.

Martin is a more efficient scorer, but his game is pretty set, Chase can do more in that he can dribble drive, and create for others and finish in traffic.

Chase may never have the same scoring numbers as Martin, but I think ultimately he will contribute more to a winning team.

I sort of outlined why I think Martin is being traded in my video, funny how this thread came up just as I was uploading...lol.

Sure he's good but Martin's game is ... unaesthetic.

Martin is a guy who can drop 40 on any given night and take over a game. Budinger isn't (and likely never will be that guy).

How are they both the same player? I like Bud as much as the next guy but the talk of him being great is very premature. We know what happens when teams gameplan for Martin, put their best defender on Martin and often double team martin (when he was with the Kings). I don't wanna even think about what would happen if they did that to Bud.

Martin is a proven veteran who puts up insane numbers offensively. All Bud has done is been a rookie who put up solid numbers off the bench. If you had to trade one or the other i would trade Bud in a heartbeat. Also, as someone else mentioned above, Martin is a plus 90% free throw shooter, and he gets to the line often.

Why trade away someone proven for someone unproven??

This post and reading people's replies affirms my suspicions that alot of you have no clue what kind of player we have in Kevin Martin. If he stays healthy he is a legit 2nd tier type player. (1st tier being superstars aka Bron, Kobe, Wade).

How are they the same player?

Martin has a super quick first step, can create his own shot, and gets to the line consistently.

Budinger shoots better from the outside and runs the break better.

The healthy part is true, I love KMart, but if we had to trade him to get Rubio and Cousins, I would do it for the good of the franchise, because he can not stay healthy.

And Budinger is a better defender...already.

    ;)

Agreed. The upside of Rubio/Cousins is too good to pass up, and if you want to win Rings you gotta gamble.

Is there something we should know about DaDakota and Budinger?? DD's son???????

But seriously though, Martin's game is overall better. Morey must have thought ver highly of him to trade Landry for him. Martin also has PROVEN that he can drop 40 on any given night. Budinger has proven that he can get homers to jump on his bandwagon.

I agree Martin is a better player now, but his game is mature, he is what he is, and that is a very nice "B" level star player.......I think Budinger may get to that level, but he will be a better defender and fit into a team oriented role better.

Either way, I like both of them.....a lot.

Agreed....not at all the same player.

I would give up Bud before I would give up Martin.

Martin vs Buddinger? Martin is one of the best role players in NBA, who can score 20 plus points in any given night, and score 40 points on some other nights. Buddinger is just a second year player with lots of protentials, but this team needs Martin more than Buddinger, just follow more games, then you will understand.

Doesn't that completely depend upon whom you are getting back? I believe Martin has more value (obviously) so you need to give up value to get it sometimes.
