Prisoners Marry, May Honeymoon in 2036 SAN ANTONIO, Texas (Reuters) - Two Texas prisoners who have never met were married by proxy on Tuesday in a San Antonio courtroom and can now look forward to their honeymoon -- in 2036 at the earliest. State District Judge Johnny Gabriel married Diane Zamora, 25, and Steven Mora, 27, using her mother and Mora's friend as stand-ins, Bexar County Clerk Gerry Rickhoff said. The husband and wife have not met, but began writing letters to each other after Mora saw Zamora on television, his family said. They are in prisons 130 miles apart. Zamora is a former U.S. Naval Academy midshipman who, along with then-boyfriend David Graham, an Air Force Academy cadet, was sentenced to life in prison in a 1996 trial for the murder of a 16-year-old girl who was her romantic rival. She must serve at least 40 years in prison and will not be eligible for parole until 2036, Texas Department of Criminal Justice spokesman Larry Fitzgerald said. Mora is scheduled to get out of prison next March after serving a four-year sentence for threatening retaliation against someone who helped put him in prison on an earlier charge. Rickhoff gave the pair a marriage license after the Texas Attorney General's office ruled there was no reason not to.
I remember thinking Zamora was pretty hot when the whole thing went down. Of course, any attractiveness she may have conveyed was easily offset by the fact that she likes to kill people.
She should have killed her boyfriend instead of that young woman. Regardless, she's a stupid biyatch. I hope someone pops a cap in her when she's released. She killed that young woman over her then boyfriend. Weren't they supposed to be the couple that would do anything for each other to protect their relationship forever...including commit murder like they did? Now, she marries this other guy?
Anyone else think the name similarity is a bit strange? Mora and Zamora? I'm not suggesting any grassy knoll conspiracies or anything.. I just thought it was funny that Diane Zamora would have to lose the ZA if she takes his name..
Thats what I was going to say. She better hope he can 'visit' her, cause I'd be willing to bet he isn't going to wait until 2036.
So, the guy is going to get out of jail soon, but won't be able to have any sort of relationship with his wife for 30+ years. In the meantime, he'll probably have girlfriends. Maybe he'll get divorced eventually so he can marry someone else. Then, in 2036, Zamora will get out of jail and kill the guy's new wife. Then again, the guy could well be a career criminal and expects to be in and out jail until 2036 anyway.
Even before I read your post I thought... "What if her name ended up being Diane Zamora-Mora"? Of course like you said, she could end up dropping the "Za"... "Za" as in "Zapruder"... *ahem*... what was that about grassy knoll conspiracies?!
lol.. Zamora-Mora sounds like a new opera or Italian restaurant or something.. Zapruder - funny.. At first, I didn't know who this was, but now I see that he was the filmographer of the JFK shooting or was he?
Zapruder is famous for being the only one that actually caught the assisination on tape, including the infamous head shot: EDIT - I replaced the pic with a less graphic one (sorry RM95).
