Hey guys I am a marketing major at Texas A&M University and am kinda facing a dilemma. After doing some research I have found out that the University of Houston happens to have a higher ranked marketing program than A&M's. I was wondering if you all had any opinions on my situation, should I stay at the school with the better business program overall(A&M) or the school with the better program catered to my major(U of H)? Also, do you happen to know of any places looking to hire marketing interns this summer, I am currently a junior with a 3.0. Thanks a lot for your help

In my experience, with my corporation's hiring policies in particular, an A&M grad of equal experience is going to be hired over a UH grad every time, regardless of specific rankings.

That being said, be prepared to go into buying or sales with a marketing degree before you can ever have a true "marketing" job.

    Who do you know?

    What have you done already?

That matters even more than where you are.

If you don't live in Houston, you'll get a better quality of education at A&M, regardless your major. Most recruiters don't even look at those specific rankings. They have a general idea, but if one year A&M is 10th and UH is 11th, and the next year UH moves up 3 spots - they don't look deep into those things.

Develop a solid resume and impress during the interview. You'll find yourself where you want to be.

Stay at A&M. It has the better reputation. Nobody knows that UH has a higher ranked marketing program

if you're already a junior, there's no question you should graduate out. it's a different story if you were just starting or had only finished one year.
