not a star player mind you, but a good player.............. in my opinion is a player that does other things even and especially when their shot is not falling BRAVO to Boki for the Rebounds and Assissts
Boki's D just isn't good enough to justify any significant minutes based on his rebounding and passing alone. Not with the other talent we have. If Boki can't find his shot, then Boki probably will never get off the bench. This truly baffles me. Most of us had the impression that we was a pretty good shooter based on his rookie workout. Based on his performance last year (partly) and his performance this summer (what DoD told us) and so far this preseason, he seems to have lost his shot. He is making Eddie look like Larry Bird.
I agree, your shot is not going to be there every night (lets just hope it is there some nights). I liked the way he played last night with regards to rebounding and positioning. He was getting open but was just a little short on his shots. I'm convinced that once he relaxes, he'll be fine.
Does Boki have a guaranteed contract? If not, he may not be on the team when the season starts. And I had such great hopes for him.
i can't believe everyone still holds to the notion that boki is a "shooter". the only reason you have to believe that is one single workout. ONE. i can shoot like that, too, on a great day, but that doesn't make me an nba shooter. boki has even said that he is not a "shooter". he's a slasher, penetrator, rebounder, do everything kind of complete player. he said it last year. so if you're waiting for matt bullard part deux, i'm afraid you've unfairly pigeonholed boki. that said, i am encouraged by his game. he looks to create contact, has above average handles, is willing to work hard, and hits the boards well. in many ways, boki's game is much more similar to scottie pippen's than matt bullard's. just because he's white, doesn't mean he has to be a "shooter".
Has JVG ever said his thoughts on Boki? He was a Rudy draft pick so I wonder how much time JVG is going to give him to prove his worth.
I agree. He will loosen up in the preseason and should show the shooting we drafted him for. To be fair, he drove to the basket well last night and came up with a bunch of rebounds, jumping over Rashard for a few of them. I think Nachbar will be a good player for us once he relaxes and stops measuring the basket.
You shouldn't be a professional basketball player unless you can hit an open shot. In the old days, all players including big stiffs could hit an open shot. Now, its a fifty fifty proposition. When did people forget how to shoot?
He's had more playing time in the past two games than he had all last season. If I were him, I think I would be a little nerveous about being pushed out so quickly. Let him get calm down some, and I think we will see a different player. Of course his defense is terrible, but he will be coming off the bench anyways.
