He is the number 3 all time assist leader in the NBA and has his own rule...question is did he do enough to be a HoF'r?
I don't like the idea of a guy like that being in the hall. I know that he put up a ridiculous number of assists, but I feel that his impact on the games that he played in was minimal. I remember, against Chicago, he could hardly even bring the ball up against Pippen. No way that that's hall of fame worthy considering the amount of other guys that should be in.
If you folks paid attention to the Eastern Conference when Jackson was playing you would not be posting such nonsense about him. He is, in my opinion, a Hall of Famer. And that is speaking as a former Chicagoan who used to hate him while he was with the Knicks and Pacers. He definitely deserves the honor.
I don't think there's many top 5 players in any major stat category (points, rebs, assists, steals, blocks) that isn't in the HOF or a sure-fire HOF. The only ones I can think of are Mark Eaton (4th blocks) and Mo Cheeks (4th steals). Mark Jackson has a decent case for inclusion... but he kind of crapped on his chances by playing too many garbage years... including in a Rockets uniform.
Also in Jackson's defense was that Pippen was allowed to body him all over the court. It was ridiculous. He fouled him almost every possession (IMO) and it wasn't called.
3rd on the all-time assists list, so yeah. And they should have a tape of that sidearm delivery and shimmy-shake on a permanent loop in Springfield. (That's the same guy, right?)
And you DO realize that Mark Jackson couldn't dribble against him because he always had to face his back to the defender right? He was only able to post up on smaller guards but his actual ball handling skills weren't up to par. Now please recognize that I'm not saying that he couldn't pass, he obviously could, but he wasn't a very good ball handler.
