What caught my eye yesterday when a friend retweeted his take is when he made it seems like the rox couldn't trade Lin because of a 15m spike in the last year. We've been through this from awhilet that no matter what his contract counts 8.3m. I wasn't debating the fact the rockets are looking to trade lin,I was debating the fact the guy makes it seem like lin contract makes him untradeable. Not to mention the cash cow thing is overblown again as it was with Yao.

Yeah... It's funny how that works. And IMHO Lin will stay a Rocket. But trading him would solve the cap space problem in one shot. Also note that the Rockets keep 3 and sometimes 4 guards handy, not that they could not pick up a new point guard if needed..... I'm just saying I would be ok with Lin staying, and I hope he does.

Man I really wanna see how Lin plays next to Dwight (assuming he signs here). I think he would flourish playing with DH just like he did in New York with Chandler. Those pick n rolls were deadly.

They told me it was really obvious that they thought that. As Jetfuel expressed, Houston aren't going to outright say it, because it's terrible asset management to do so. Nevertheless, when you give out some of the Lin offers they are, and reject some of the Beverley ones they are, combined with the careful diplomacy on the topic, they were adamant is really obvious (and fwiw, they concurred.) I trust this guy one hundred jillion percent.

Sham, I thank you for giving us this info.

I have another question - You know anything about the Dwight pursuit? I know right now you are the "Lin" guy ha, but any Dwight Howard news?

His cap counts as 8.3/8.3/8.3 but his salary is 5/5/15. He is merely stating that while a GM may not balk at the 8.3 hit next year but most owners won't want to write a 15 million dollar check under his current circumstances - he'd be expecting a near max player stats. So basically the next owner is picking up Les' bill.

Problem is us Rockets fans who watched every game last season know Lin was A LOT better than Beverley in the regular season.

cap is what matters, not paycheck...Les and many other nba owners have the cash and are not hesitant in paying players...it's just the cap that they are concerned with...lin only being 8.3mil is not bad at all. just take that guy's tweet with a grain of salt.

Beverley is a bargain though. Of course theyre going to want to replace a pg making 8 times more when they need to clear capspace. Doesnt necessarily mean the rockets think beverleys a better player.

not in terms of trading the guy...we often forget this isnt a video game. Real owners are paying millions of dollars. they dont like throwing money away...and if they can save millions they will. First and foremost this is a BUSINESS!

think about this... if you sign lin to a big contract. Pay him 5 million then another team has to pay the other 25 million. You basically got them to also pay 3 million of his first years salary.

that is what smart businessmen do...and that is why les is rich and we are not. FYI lol

This is the best explanation for why Rox wants to trade Lin. But the question is: will any team wants him if they think the same way as Morey? Nobody is stupid. They all know if they take Lin, they need to take his 15 million also. So I believe Lin has to stay. Rox is just trying to sell him but nobody will buy it. Because the team signed him big but didn't give him chance to shine. Lin could have much higher stats if coaches allowed. That's the punishment for Rox for not using Lin in a right way. Finally, Asik has to leave for Howard cap issue.

Here is a question on the 8.3 (times 3) and the 5/5/15.

    * Does anyone know what the Rockets actually paid Lin this last season?
Was it 8.3? Or was it just 5 Mil?

As I see it, it would make a difference in a trade if it was actually 8.3 that was paid the first season.

OK let the hair pulling and Eye-gouging begin. 1-2-3 ...........GOOOOOOOOO!!!!
