I think he said the same thing about artest last year.

Ok now I remember, Cuban said after the lakers acquired artest that they've gotten worse and it was a downgrade from ariza.

It actually is the best strategy. He's a horrible offensive player.

Which is exactly why the Rockets let him walk.

    TROOF.

Stern made Cuban pay in 2006 but still isn't done taking a pound of his flesh as retribution for the **** he's stirred those early years in the league.

Maybe in 2021 in another 10 years he'll let Cuban finally win one.

Why do people here say the 05 series was rigged, wouldn't stern want the rockets to advance since they had 2 superstar and a large following in china?

And the last time I checked wasn't Yao getting away from setting illegal screens until Cuban sent the game videos to the officials.

Their are numerous videos showing the corruption of that series and blown calls on youtube. I would link them, but watching them makes me rage. If we would have won that series, T-mac wouldn't be known as the "First Round Virgin" and who knows, I think we could have made it far.

Aaaah but the past is the past

But why rig it in Dallas' favorite.

I don't think the series was rigged just terrible officiating.

Have not heard of Tim Donaghy? If I remember correctly, he said himself that the series between the Rockets and Mavs in 05 was highly rigged.

Rigged isn't exactly the right term, since it's not like WWF where the system is orchestrated by everyone involved. Instead, the league has a desired outcome and they appoint officials to try to influence it. This is why they never reveal their referee selection process and you have "anomalies" like Joey "love2suck#24" Crawford reffing THREE games in the Finals. All refs have tendencies and the league is completely aware of it (sports bettors like myself are too-- see http://www.covers.com for ref stats if you want to really make some $$$ betting).

The bottom line is that the league wants to put the marquee teams in the Finals every year. It is not a coincidence that the Lakers have been in > 50% of Finals, or that Chicago suddenly started going every year when MJ was at the peak of popularity. The fools are the fans like myself who continue to watch this production.

Well, hopefully Gasol or Bynum can have a career-ending injury or else we're looking at the same old **** again.

Well, Bynum is a dirty player so it would be karma. I'm going to laugh when he goes down right before the playoffs (hopefully).

I like Gasol but since he was given to the Lakers for nothing and basically ensured them championships, it seems like a fair swap.

I'm just sick of the same **** year after year. The Lakers are in the Finals, will probably win. We get it. I wish I could just not watch but I can't seem to do that.
