Guys, if this team wants to win a championship, it's plain and simple.....Keep Shandon...that's easy....Keep Mo, also easy, but not AS easy......Get Marion, close to impossible....

I think a front line of Marion and Mo would be perfect, cause Marion is a SUPER rebounder, which makes up for Mo's "not-so-great" rebounding.....Plus, Marion blocks shots, steals, assists, he does it all.....Can u imagine how fast this team would be runnin??

The Rockets organization's aim in life should be to do those three things...

    C - Cato/Collier
    PF - MO/Kenny
    SF - Marion/Langhi
    SG - Anderson/Mobley
    PG - Francis/Norris

Great idea. As you've said "close to impossible". Your example gives us one of PHX's best and (except for Walt) keeps the Rockets basically intact for next season. Not high on a probability scale. I can only see one possible scenario. The Rockets hit paydirt with the Bucks, Pistons and their own picks next draft AND the Suns see someone they can't live without and want to trade.

We all seem to fixate on a star SF to help get us to the finals. Marion was a #9 pick, so maybe the draft is the answer. If we don't resign Mo, another UNLV player might be a good fit (Kaspars Kambala). But that's another subject.

I think with Marion's play, Gugliota may be available. He would be a great fit with the Rockets.

Just a thought (and a random one at that) [IMG]

It will be very interesting to see what happens with that club, when Gugs and Penny come back. Penny will certainly take some minutes from him, when the Suns go to a 3 guard lineup. Uncle Cliffy is certainly qualified to play some minutes at the SF as well, and will have to if Gugs claims the starting spot. Rodney Rogers will get his minutes.

Suns don't need another PF. They badly need a center, though...

Marion did a live chat today with www.cnnsi.com

By the time I got there, it was almost already finished. I only got a chance to submit two questions, but he answered one of them!

I asked if he was going to be in the slam dunk competition this year. He said something cheesy like "naw, I do all my dunk competitions in the game."

The question he never answered was "Will the Rockets make the playoffs this year?" Too bad he didn't answer, eh? [IMG]

I think it's a great idea. But the Suns are doing pretty well right now. What needs to happen is they start sucking and the front court gets disgruntled with lack of playing time. They have Cliff Robinson, Rodney Rogers, Googs, Marion, Ruben Garces, Corie Blount, that's 6 guys who play PF and/or SF not to mention elie who goes SF sometimes. So, here's to hoping they suck, but their the best in the west right now.

Hate to burst the bubble here, but there is no way the Suns are moving Shawn Marion. This guy is simply an incredible athlete who is one of the few on the Suns team that plays both ends of the floor. Aside from his running the floor like a gazelle, finish with authority on the break and being a very good rebounder for a SF, Marion is an excellent defensive player with long arms. He has improved his jump shot since he entered the league and is looking like one of the major young talents in the NBA.

Btw, this is another item to add to the list of Don Nelson's "accomplishments". Pat Garrity and the 9th pick (Shawn Marion) go to the Suns for Steve Nash.

It would take Francis to get Marion from Phoenix. And for the time being, while Penny is out, Marion can play the 2 as well. Marion right now is probably a bigger pipe dream than Odom.

Does anyone else think Marion is like Pippen before he became Quitten?

Come on now, Marion is not THAT good. I think we could get him if we traded Cato, though.

Keep in mind that Phoenix is pretty desperate for an athletic center. Chris Dudley isn't it.

    Tex,

Going a little far there. I agree that Cato for Marion is a little lopsided. But Mobley and Cato both is horrible for the Rockets. There's no way in a million years I'd give Mobley alone for Marion, much less with someone else. Although Marion is not up for trade, so there really isn't much point.

Here's the real problem. I'm starting to wonder if FRANCIS is actually that good.

Now I've heard everything. Those were words I thought would never be uttered on this board. What will it take to cure the doubters? That's what I wonder.

Googs for Cato? I would do that in a second. Collier will be better than Cato (if he's not already) IMHO.

Shawn is alot more athletic then Pip. Pip was better all-around. Marion reminds me more of a very athletic Yink Dare.

Marion two nights ago was 19 pts, 19 reb, 5 blocks, 4 steals.....They need a center, we need a SF, it's simple....They're more desperate than we are....and Cato is just what they need......and next year, we can easily draft a big man.....but the way he's playing, he's untouchable...
