Okay, I've tried and tried to find something about this but I have found nothing. Maybe it was no big deal, but I must say that is the most animated I've ever seen Mario get without his helmet on. Did everyone else see this? Or did I imagine it?

In case you missed it, ESPN showed Mario getting in one of the coaches grills on the sideline last night - then quickly cut away to a closeup of Peyton or something like that. It sounded like Jaws quickly mentioned it, then we never heard anything else about it.

Can anyone find anything about what happened? I would think having one of the 3 faces of the franchise yelling at a coach on the sideline would be troubling to...well....the franchise.

Whatever it was, I liked it. Someone needs to stir the pot a little with this boring, predictable, passive team.

Nothing would make me happier to know that our players were as upset with the coaches as we are today.

Yea, saw that too, he looked as mad as I've ever seen him. I hope this is Mario saying screw you with this stupid scheme, it's time to UNLEASH THE BEAST.

We were on defense. Mario wasn't in the game (obviously). Maybe he got pulled out for some reason and was yelling at the coach to let him back in or something like that.

Yeah I saw that as well. Mario was such a non-factor yesterday. I don't know if it's him or the defensive scheme... but man its disheartening to watch our D...

*although they had an OK game last night.

I remember seeing it (late in the 4th quarter, I think on the Colts last FG), but I recall him yelling at D-line coach Bill Kollar, not Kubiak. Could be mistaken though since it was a very quick cutaway. He was probably pissed that he wasn't in the game on a crucial 3rd down.

I was out watching the game so it was tough to hear the comments from the broadcast.

Maybe someone that DVR'd the game can check.

Yeah, pretty sure the announcers said it was Kollar he was yelling at on the sideline. It definitely wasn't Kubiak. Like already mentioned, I'm sure it was just because Mario didn't like being pulled from the game, even for one play.

He wasn't yelling at Bush or Kubiak. It was some other white coach that I'd never seen before.

During the shot Jaws was talking about Frank Bush and the defensive job he had been doing for the Texans, can't remember word for word what it was.

Did you read my post or Raven Lunatic's?

It was d-line coach Bill Kollar that he was yelling at.

    Yeah, definitely not Kubiak.

You are probably right. Rats. I was hoping for a little controversy. Just something....SOMETHING to stir things up a bit.

This team just seems so bland and boring - on and off the field. Probably a reflection of the coach. And owner...

I don't see what people's problem with McNair is. The only beef I have with him is letting go of Dunta. And thats assuming he was even involved in that decision (which I'm convinced he was.) He brought football back to Houston, spends a good amount of money, leaves football affairs to football people (who are apparently clueless).

Kubiak and Smith I have a problem with.

Duh dude, I know that now but I was saying that at the time I was confused because I know Bush is black and that wasn't Kubiak, so I wasn't sure who exactly that was.

Letting Capers stay on after 3 losing seasons and a pathetic quit job to finish 2004. 2-14 followed.

Keeping Casserly on board when he was finally talked into firing Capers.

Making it an interview criteria for the prospective new coaches to discuss how they'd win with David Carr.

Giving David Carr a 3 year $24M extension when he had proved beyond a doubt he wasn't going to become a worthwhile player as a Texan.

Giving Kubiak an extension as a reward for helping a playoff caliber underachieve last year and blow games left and right.

In general, McNair gives such a long leash he may as well not even be involved with the team. There's no urgency, no accountability, and that has come from the top. He's a better owner than Drayton, but we will continue to spin wheels for as long as mediocrity is acceptable to McNair. Winning isn't that big a deal as long as we're buying tickets and jerseys.

can people who want to moan about ownership pretty please come up with something new to say?

To say any of these owners "doesn't care about winning" just because they're not going to let the franchise bankrupt itself (like the DBacks and Suns did) is just stupid.

emj, that may be the first time i've ever disagreed with you, so no disrespect intended. i just get so tired of the idiotic "cheap" rants. if mcnair was so "cheap", how the hell did he land an NFL franchise in the first place?

He's not cheap, he's rich. The Texans make $$$$$ that's why he got in.

People need to realize that McNair is in this for profit. That's what the Texans are to him. He's not going to go out and spend money on a big name head coach like Cowher, Dungy, or Gruden. He isn't going to get a player with "attitude" either. You must be a good ol' choir boy. This team needs a new coach. Kubiak just isn't it and McNair won't realize it until after next season.

Does anyone know what quarter this happened at least? I don't want to watch that game again in full.

Wow! You just summed up my issues with McNair quite nicely. He's a realy nice guy who stepped up, put his money on the line and brought pro football back to Houston. For that he should be lauded. But his disengagement with this organization has only served to recreate the experience of the ineptness of the previous Houston pro franchise.

This post is going to be rather long, but I'm sick and tired of people riding McNair and even McLane (to a lesser extent) about their drive to win.

It doesn't matter if he's in it for the profit. I'm sure that's the main reason any owner owns a franchise, but that doesn't mean he doesn't care about the team. I'm sure he's just as much of a fan as you or I. He invests more money in the team than most of the other NFL owners. You saw the huge paydays that Matt, DeMeco, and Andre got. Even if he WAS in it exclusively for the money, do you really think he doesn't realize that winning = profit? You don't get as rich as McNair is by not understanding these kinds of things.

Pollard has attitude. Cushing has attitude. Antonio Smith has attitude. This was well documented before we went out and got them. You don't just bring in any good player who has been cast off due to behavioral problems. The Colts never bring in questionable FAs. Neither do the Steelers. or the Ravens. The Bengals brought in Pacman and TO, the Bears brought in Peppers, the Vikings went and got Moss, and we all know about the Cowboys.

Texans, Colts, Steelers, Ravens combined record: 19-9
Bengals, Bears, Vikings, Cowboys combined record: 9-19

Sure, it's a flawed analysis, but the point is, show me a team that regularly takes chances on bad eggs, and I'll show you a team just as good or better that only signs "choir boys"

The man is way too loyal, I'll give you that, but I don't think that's always a bad thing. We all know what it's like to have a disloyal owner, and he took football away from this town.

Don't disrespect the man who brought it back.

I like heady moves and not going with the wants of the rabid fan base. Philly taking Donovan McNabb & Colts taking Edgerrin James over Ricky Williams, Texans taking Mario over Bush comes to mind. Can't say we haven't rallied around Mario, can't say it didnt ignite interest.

But this Texans team has been in definite need of a GLAMOUR move. And not the Ahman Green / Phillip Buchanon type of moves.

The Texans "sexiest" move still might be when they unveiled their uniforms for the first time ever with Eric Dickerson, ZZ Top and AJ Foyt wearing the jersey

Big names, big plays and big DRAMA. Thats football. Cushing has the right idea so far with that. Need some more petulant assholes in there.
