damnit! beat me by a minute

Allen I can understand (58 tackles, 11.5 sacks). Vanden Bosch (48 tackles, 9 sacks) and Jason Taylor (48 tackles, 10 sacks) I can't understand for the life of me over Super Mario (53 tackles, 13.5 sacks...1st in AFC).

    It's a traveshamockery I tells ya!

Ridiculous. Fan voting ended the Tuesday before the Broncos game but coaches, players, and media didn't end until Sunday.

    This is bullcrap.

WTF has Vanden Bosch done that Mario hasn't?

Lets see, Mario has 14 more tackles and 4 more sacks.

"Yeah, I thing we should leave the AFC leader in sacks off the AFC Pro Bowl Team."
    "Great idea!"
"But we'll take the next 3 DE's with the highest sack totals."
    "Oh, for sure."

Yeah, I know that's not the way it works.

Someone may yet come up lame (God forbid) or choose not to attend.

Until the last few weeks, Mario's case for the Pro Bowl was iffy at best. He's had a great run recently, but I'm cool with seeing if he charges into the Pro Bowl next year.

    Kudos to 'Meco!

Why not wait until the season ends before voting???

Regardless.... Mario should DEF. be in the Pro Bowl.

this is why the pro bowl, like most all-star competions, is utlimately meaningless. how can you vote for the *season's* best players when ballots are due two weeks prior to the end of it?

the far greater, more meaningful honor is the all-pro team, which he should make.

Why in the hell do they do this before the season is over anyway? The game isn't for a couple of months. Why the need to pick the teams now?

I'm not complaining. Less chance for an injury. The Pro Bowl is garbage anyway.

Not disagreeing with you, but I rarely hear "All-Pro" in arguments about a player's performance or value. For every "all-pro" reference I hear, I hear about 25 or 30 "Pro Bowl" references.

You're right, but it's more about the disrespect. He should be in, certainly over Jason Taylor.

VY only went last year because the fifth guy choosen ahead of him (McNair) wanted his apprentice to have the opportunity.

Yes, I root for the Horns but this is the truth...

depends on the circle... keep in mind, all-pros are voted on by writers; pro bowls by players, coaches and fans. within the writer community (ie the hall of fame voters), all-pro carries considerably more weight.

case in point, if you dial up a player's hall of fame page, it most definitely lists his all-pro appearences: http://www.profootballhof.com/hof/member.jsp?player_id=254

pro bowls are to... let's go with die-hard football fan/nerds what all-star games are to die-hard baseball fan/nerds - over-inflated popularity contests. i mean, they don't even consider an entire 16-game schedule a necessary component - how legit can they be?

as for why they vote early, it's a holdover from the snail mail days.
