Not sure if this has already been posted, but weren't the Rockets looking for a more offensive-minded PF? http://chicagosports.chicagotribune...sbits,1,3172484.story?coll=cs-bulls-headlines Two things though: 1) Is he a good player, suitable for playing beside Yao and Francis? 2) Is it too late to pick up someone for our playoff run?
Sorry. Can't answer either of your questions, but I was piqued by this news as well. When Fizer has been given minutes, he has put up some gaudy rebounding numbers. Problem in Chicago is he's had to play 4th and 5th fiddle behind forwards Eddie Curry, Antonio Davis, Tyson Chandler, and Jerome Williams. But who goes to make room for Fizer? Adrian Griffin? Scott Padgett? Bostjan Nachbar? Wilks is all ready occupying an IL spot and Weatherspoon and Piatkowski aren't going anywhere.
no one has to go if we were interested in him and he was available. we have a open spot on the roster...someone would have to come down with planar faceitis(sp?)...but we only have one player on IL IIRC...and there is room for another.
I wonder if he'll really get waived. That seems so unlikely. The Rocks have to pick him up if he is. How could they not?
If Fizer gets waived he cant be added to a teams playoff roster because the deadline to do that was March 1st. Would we want Fizer if he couldnt help the team in the playoffs?
I'd grab Fizer in a second, if he's waived. But, he's been there in Chicago for awhile, so he might have attitude problems, just like ex-Clippers. I always thought he was a little better than Kenny, although that no longer seems the case. I'd love to pick him up, even if it was to give him some playing time, and then trade him for something of value. Maybe he's just never had a chance to show what he can do, sortof like Kenny. I see him more as an Eastern Coference forward, and not a long term solution for us. I could understand the Rockets not picking him up, since we're in the middle of a playoff race, and we don't need any distractions. Long-term, though, it'd be wise to pick up another building block. I'd rather have him, than Wilks, even if he couldn't be used post-season. JVG doesn't seem to use more than 7 players anyway.
If Fizer were picked up, and why not?, then he could be evaluated for next year's roster, IMO. Virtually a free look.
i recall reading something about Fizer being excited at the prospect of being reunited with Tim Floyd in New Orleans, where he'd back up Mash, PJ, Lynch, etc. With the Hornets coming over to the Midwest next year, and as strong as they already are, I'd hate for them to pick up a talent like Fizer for basically nothing...
Even though Fizer couldn't help us in the playoffs, he would be a nice pickup for the team. He puts up some pretty good numbers when he gets the numbers, he will give the Rockets a little more flexibility this offseason. If we can sign him to a reasonable contract, I don't see why the Rockets wouldn't do it.
I don't want Fizer. He's not gonna help much this year since he can't be added to the playoff roster now. If we pick him up we have the best chance to sign him for next year. However, do we really need another undersized four when we have MoT and Spoon under contracts? I like Fizer as an instant offense off the bench type of player, but we have no room for him now. And I think that MoT is a better player than Fizer anyway.
fizer are the MO T for the bulls thats what i chek in the real gm forum of tha bulls that year he average is 11.0pts coming from the bench IMO it's a good adquisicion if is waived for staring or coming from tha bench and have a pretty good touch from the field adon't know about his D
We do have a couple undersized PFs on our roster, but they also have pretty big contracts too. Picking up Fizer (even though he couldn't play in the playoffs), would allow a lot more flexibility if the Rockets make a deal this summer. What's the difference if he sign him now or the summer? We have a better chance signing him now than later.
While to some extent I agree with you, having Fizer likely coming back next season would make it alot easier on me to say goodbye to Mo Taylor in the case that a team requests him in trade scenario.
Good point about giving us some summer flexability. Seems like he would be worth a look. I still can't believe they're waiving him. Anytime we go nuts about our front office, we should just remember da Bulls. Compared to them, we're in management heaven.
