Marcus Camby to Have Surgery by Dave on Jan 18, 2011 From the Blazers: MARCUS CAMBY TO UNDERGO SURGERY MRI reveals Portland center has slight meniscus tear in left knee PORTLAND -- Portland Trail Blazers center Marcus Camby will undergo arthroscopic surgerylater this week to repair a partial medial meniscus tear in his left knee, it was announced today by General Manager Rich Cho. "The MRI taken earlier today did not show anything significant," said Cho. "However, a more thorough review tonight from our team physician did reveal a partial tear." The exact date for Camby's arthroscopy has yet to be determined. A timeline for his return will be set following surgery. In 39 games (all starts) this season, Camby has averaged 5.9 points, 11.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.87 blocks in 28.7 minutes. He ranks fifth in the NBA in rebounds and 10th in blocked shots per game. Camby is the only player in the Western Conference averaging at least 11.0 rebounds and 1.50 blocks. He has grabbed at least 10 boards in 26 games and led the team in rebounding a team-high 28 times this season. As I said in a comment last night, "MRI" now stands for "Most Ridiculous Injury" as far as the Blazers are concerned. Seriously, what's the percentage of Portland MRI's that have passed without incident? Like, none? Thanks to je'mapple for getting this up in the Fanshots early. --Dave (blazersub@yahoo.com) http://www.blazersedge.com/2011/1/18/1943593/marcus-camby-to-have-surgery
Sucks for them. Camby should be back in 3-6 weeks. At least it wasn't something more serious in the knee but a definite loss for their team for the next month. Maybe the Rockets can gain some ground now... I hope.
If I'm Batum or Matthews or any of the young guys left, I would demand a trade before my knees become a fine powder.
So far this season (42 games): -Jeff Pendergraph tore his ACL in preseason and had to be waived. -Elliot Williams (their first round pick) had a patellar dislocation had had to be operated on. Then they figured he was compensating too much on the other knee and that had to be operated on. -Oberto's heart condition arose from nowhere and he had to retire. -Oden had to have a second microfracture on his other knee. -Roy's bone on bone issue arose without any meniscus left. Then he figured to get his other knee operated on as well to avoid any compensating issues. -Now Camby tore his meniscus. That's worse than Houston's injury issue.
Come on Aldridge are you next? He is a damn Rocket killer when he plays us. Hope this helps our playoff hopes.
He is getting more minutes lately. He sucked for first couple of games, but played good in last game. He is sort off liability for them right now because blazers gave him minutes only when they needed to give Camby or Aldridge rest.
