5 years at only $21 million. I'm a bit surprised at the low amount, although it had already been said that he valued years over salary.

Would have been a very nice player to have around for 4 million per. Although, with the addition of Snyder and the signings of JL3 and Spanoulis likely, I haven't been as high on Banks over the past week.

Now watch him go average 15/4/6 on career high shooting %'s in Phoenix.

It's always nice to have instant offense off the bench, if the price is right.

That said, he's undersized and I think we've had our fill of "undersized" around these parts. Personally, I think his incredible 3 point %'s should negate that factor, considering he'd only see spot minutes anyway. Not sure how management feels though. Maybe someone can see what his moneyball numbers look like. Probably pretty nice.

I'd give him less than 2 million a year for 3 years.

No, he's just a streaky 3pt shooter with nothing much else on offer.

I guess this would indicate Rocks are going all out for Spanoulis. If KillBill can play both guard positions I would like to see Rocks convert Juwan into Earl Watson via trade and sign JLIII. PG would be set and deep: Skip=pass first, Watson=defense & 3p shooting, KB=instant offense.

    Alston, Watson, Spanoulis, JLIII, (Sura)
Snyder, Head, Sura, (Spanoulis), (McGrady), (Battier)
    McGrady, Novak, Rybo, (Battier)
    Battier, Hayes, Padgett, (Rybo)
    Yao, Deke, (Hayes), (Padgett)

I wouldn't consider him streaky. Look at his per game stats from last season and you'll see that he is pretty consistent, with a good night here and a bad night there. If that's streaky, then everyone in the NBA is streaky.

Besides, what's to complain about if a guy can play less than 20 minutes and give you close to 10 points on close to 40% 3 point shooting? Like I said, the price would have to be right, but you sound like you wouldn't want him for like 1.5 mil. For example, Spanoulis, Lucas, and House all for the MLE wouldn't please you?

    5 yrs for 21 mil.

helluva payday for a guy that's done NOTHING in the league.

almost as crazy as Nene's payday. (i just wanted to say Nene's payday!)

A guy that's only 25, saw limited action in his first 2 seasons, then put up 12 ppg, 3 rpg, 5 apg, 1+spg on 48%/36%/78% in 31 mpg with a new team has actually done something rather impressive in the league.

Judging by the free agent market this off season, he looks to have taken about 30% less than another team likely would have offered him if he waited around a bit longer.

This is too bad because I really wanted Banks, even more than Mike James. Well, this puts JL3 square in our laps.

There isn't 'a bit longer' left in this FA 'class'.

Saw on the news that the Rockets never felt they were in contention with Banks anyway. So CD wasn't surprised that he chose the Suns. I'm sure if we offered him the full MLE, he would be here however.

We did offer the full MLE, but not enough years. Banks wanted 5 years guaranteed; I believe we only gave him 3.
