I think March is a placeholder date for a lot of games, so there might be some issues with this list. I didn’t bother putting in some games that I pretty much knew weren’t being released in March, even though GS has them coming out then (BF, AITD 5, etc.). That said, I might have missed some, so don't be surprised if some of these don't come out in March.

I realized that there is apparently no limit (or not much of a limit) on how many youtube videos you can embed in a post, so all the previews will be in one post.

This initial taste of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is enticing, mainly because it appears that GSC Game World has delivered on many of the ambitious features that were promised years ago. There's almost a palpable sense that you're not quite playing a game, but rather exploring an incredibly dynamic and dangerous world. We're excited at the prospect of adventuring and living in this world. It also doesn't hurt that the visuals have remained impressive. There was concern that the many delays would result in the game looking dated when it arrived--keep in mind that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. was supposed to be one of the first games to use DirectX 9, and now it will arrive after Microsoft releases DirectX 10. Still, the graphical detail is comparable to games such as Half-Life 2. S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl is scheduled to ship this March.

C&C 3 (PC)

Development on Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars is almost done, and the game looks great. The game's graphics engine does a good job of making each unit look unique and recognizable on the battlefield, and allows for plenty of detail on both units and structures as well as some good-looking special effects, like the heat shimmer on explosions and flamethrower attacks. It's clear that the game will have lots of stuff to offer--fast-paced multiplayer action, accessible but deep gameplay, great graphics, and some expanded community features that will hopefully give it some serious lasting value as a competitive tournament game. The PC version game of the game is scheduled to be on store shelves on March 28, while the Xbox 360 version of the game will ship later this year.

Based on what we've seen Earth Defense Force X is shaping up to be a shiny piece of old-school action for the Xbox 360. The game may not be the prettiest thing you'll ever see on the 360, but it has an undeniable charm and offers visceral fun in ways that only leveling a city or blowing mobs of ants in every direction possible can offer.

Something about this game seems so awesome, especially since it is a budget title (meaning ~$40 IIRC).

Note that this video is from the PS3 version since I couldn’t find a Wii version. Just imagine crappier graphics (if that is possible), and replace the PS3 controller with the Wiimote. Better yet, you may just want to imagine this game didn’t exist. No previews at the moment.

Cooking Mama (Wii)

With more than 300 food ingredients, 55 recipes to choose from, and excellent, varied controls using the Wii Remote, Cooking Mama: Cook Off looks like it will be compelling game for the Wii that the whole family can enjoy. It's just too bad you can't eat the delicious meals you create in the game. Stay tuned for more information on this game in the weeks leading up to its release later this year.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 is scheduled to come out for the Wii in March of this year. Based on what we played of the game, it seems like it will offer the deep game of golf that the Tiger Woods series is known for, but will offer a much different style of play. Master of Disguise isn't like your typical Wario platformer, since there's not a whole lot of actual combat that we've observed so far. But between the different costumes, the multitude of minigames, and the various puzzle solving, it seems like there will be a lot of variety here, depending on how long the game is. The game isn't very import friendly, since it's chock-full of Japanese text with no English accompaniment, but considering it's out in English in just a couple of weeks, why would you want to import it anyway?

Lost in Blue 2 can be played entirely with the stylus, which ought to make the game ideal for younger players and even those older DS owners who are just getting into the system. Given the DS Lite's incredible sales figures over the last holiday season, a lot of those nascent gamers will be looking for a unique gameplay experience, and it looks as though Lost in Blue 2 may fit the bill here. The game is due out in just a few weeks, so we'll bring you a full review when it hits shelves.

Sony's SCEE-developed MotorStorm is set to hit the PlayStation 3 with a muddy, physics-heavy bang when it comes to the US early next year. The over-the-top racer has been catching attention since it first appeared at the 2005 Electronic Entertainment Expo as a flashy trailer and has been prominently featured at a number of Sony events. Most recently the game has appeared in demo form in the PlayStation 3 online store. Though the demo offers a taste of what to expect from the upcoming game, Sony recently showed off an even more polished work-in-progress version at a press event that featured new tracks as well as a look at how the single-player game is going to work. We had the chance to hit the road with the game and talk to a member of the development team to find out more about this crazy racer.

Oblivion (PS3)

Oblivion will make extensive use of the PS3's hard drive by caching multiple gigabytes of data, which seemed to help with load times from what we saw. Bethesda's Pete Hines also commented that recent reports of data duplication on the PS3 Oblivion disc have been exaggerated, and this technique isn't different from the similar strategy that was employed in the creation of the Xbox 360 game last year. Lastly, it's unclear if or when the PS3 will see the Shivering Isles content that's on the way to the PC and Xbox, though with a burgeoning PlayStation Network and plenty of unfilled hard drive space, it's not hard to imagine the expansion can be made available to PS3 owners somewhere down the road.

Given the rumors (particularly the Blu-ray stuff), I thought this game would be a crappy port of the 360 version, but it sounds like it will have some decent improvements (loading times cut in half, better framerate, sharper textures, fixed LOD, etc.). I recommend that all PS3 owners that haven’t played this game give it a shot when it comes out (if nothing else, just to show appreciation to Bethesda for working their butts off). On a related note, PC and 360 users will be getting the expansion to Oblivion, Shivering Isles, later in the month.

FEAR (PS3)

F.E.A.R. for the PlayStation 3 should deliver the same amount of thrills and chills as the PC and Xbox 360 versions, and it's not surprising that Sierra and developer Day 1 Studios took the safe road of porting over the excellent Xbox 360 game. F.E.AR.'s mix of kinetic action and creepy horror is an effective one, and the game should hit the PlayStation 3 in March.

Call of Duty: Roads to Victory (PSP)

Amaze seems to be doing a respectable job with the visuals in Roads to Victory; check out the new trailer above for an example. Though the geometry and textures have taken the slight detail hit you'd expect in coming to the PSP, overall this definitely looks like a Call of Duty game, so devoted fans of the series (and WWII shooters in general) ought to feel at home. The game will purportedly also feature a multiplayer option for six players, though we didn't get to test that mode with our single preview build. Look for more information on that mode, as well as the remaining Canadian and British campaigns, when we post our full review around the time Roads to Victory hits shelves in mid-March.

God of War II may in fact be the best action game ever made. It outdoes the original God of War in every way, even if only by a tiny bit as the first was so good to begin with. It's an evolutionary step rather than a revolutionary leap, but it has basically perfected the formula that the original set up. If you own a PlayStation 2 (or PS3) and don't mind excessive amounts of blood, you absolutely must play this game. If you don't own a PS2, find someone who does and sit yourself down in front of their TV for 12 or so hours as you'll otherwise be missing out on one of gaming's most intense and engaging experiences available.

A dozen or so hours on your first time through is reasonable, but going back at the higher levels and finding all the extra goodies will take you a long, long time. Tons of bonus modes too.

Based on what we've seen, Def Jam Icon is shaping up to be a slick fighter for the PS3 and Xbox 360. The timing is good due to the simple fact that both systems are sadly light on fighters. The unique mechanics have the potential to appeal to both fighting fans and players who don't normally dig the genre. If you're hungry for a fighter or open to a funky new experience, you'll want to keep an eye out for Def Jam Icon when it ships later this year. Look for more on the game soon.

Virtua Tennis 3 (Multi)

In addition to the world tour and exhibition modes, Virtua Tennis 3 offers a singles and doubles tournament mode, where you play succeeding tournaments for cash, and a court games mode, where you can play both single-player and versus versions of some of the training minigames found in world tour mode. Though the game supports up to four players on the same console, there doesn't seem to be any online features (unlike the Xbox 360 version, which supports up to eight players).

The PS3 version does have Sixaxis controls, however, which have you controlling not only the position of your player but the type of shot he or she hits by moving the controller in various directions. To hit a lob shot, for example, you move the controller up when it gets close to your player; to hit a slice, you move the controller down. Top-spin shots are pulled off by moving the controller left or right. Moving your player around the court is controlled by tilting the Sixaxis in any direction. In all, the Sixaxis controls are relatively intuitive and work as they should, but they don't really add that much to the overall game experience.

Based on what we've seen, Armored Core 4 appears to be shaping up to be a good next step for the series. The game looks solid, with some nice new platform-specific bells and whistles thrown in; the mechs offer a good measure of variety; and the single-player game seems to have a fair amount of meat to it thanks to the customization options. The multiplayer is thinner than we'd like it to be, especially in the wake of From's good work on Chromehounds for the 360, but at least it's something. Armored Core 4 is currently slated to ship in the spring of 2007. Look for more on the game in the coming months.

There's nothing quite like the feeling of a co-op game, as you're running along with a pack of your fellow players, all loaded for bear and ready to take out anything in your way. Teamwork and coordination is easy thanks to voice chat, but some of the new GRAW2 single-player enhancements also show up in multiplayer. For instance, you can select any of your teammates and get a full-screen view of what they're seeing by simply holding down the right bumper on the Xbox 360 controller. Or, you can take control of the aerial drone, get a full-screen feed of its video output, and pilot it around the map to detect enemies. Meanwhile, if a teammate goes down but isn't killed outright, you can patch them up by running up and healing them. This is a good way to foster teamwork, since you don't want to be all by yourself if you're shot. If someone doesn't get to you in time, you're a goner. GRAW2's co-op is a load of fun, and it'll certainly be one of the most popular features of the game when it ships next month.

In the years since their previous adventures Donatello, Michelangelo, Leonardo, and Raphael have grown apart, but in order to save the world they'll need to work together as a team and put each of their unique skills to good use.

In addition to the single-player world tour mode, the PlayStation 2 version of Burnout Dominator that we've been playing also features split-screen support for two players and a party play mode that lets up to four players take turns to compete in the same event and compare their scores. The PlayStation Portable version of Dominator, which we've yet to see in action, will also feature a party play mode, as well as ad hoc support for up to six players. Another promised feature of the PSP game is score syncing, which will let you synchronize your high-score tables with those of up to 16 other players to see how you compare. The implementation of indistinct shakes and waggles of the Remote doesn't really offer any added immersion, mainly because your movements don't feel in any way connected to those of the Prince. So if you've already played the game on another format you won't get much in the way of a new experience out of the Wii version.

Conversely, it's just as playable as it was with the normal control pad. That considered, The Two Thrones was a brilliant game and if you haven't played it, Rival Swords on Wii will be well worth a look.

wow the tmnt game does look impressive. I had no interest until I saw that. I'll definitely wait for reviews though.

I think the Cook Off game is a very impressive/fun idea, but I'm disappointed in he graphics. I know that Wii isn't about graphics in the least bit, but like another game that comes to mind (Trauma Center), I wish for slightly better graphics.

No other complaints though.

By the way, this doesn't really have to do with the thread, but when is a major Baseball game coming out for the Wii? I can imagine playing outfield in the first person and actually having to catch the ball with the controller.

I can't wait to see what they come out with.

No mention of Major League baseball 2K7?

Everything I have seen and read, that game is going to be great in every way. I watched a couple of vids on it a couple of days ago and couldn't get over watching the jerseys flicker from the wind (360). lol

Anyway, game comes out this week.

The game is based on a DS game (much like Trauma Center actually). I haven't really followed the development of the game, but they may have just ported the game to the Wii and made some adjustments here and there, rather than creating a new graphics engine and stuff like that.

2K Sports has a baseball game coming out in Q3 of this year called The BIGS, which is an arcade-style baseball game (power-ups, special effects, etc.). It will also be released on the PS2, PSP, 360, and PS3 at the same time, so I wouldn't expect too much effort from 2K in taking advantage of the Wii. That seems to be the only real baseball game coming out anytime soon, although I suppose things could change. Then again, 2K Sports is the only 3rd party developer that can make a MLB game, so you'd be left with a Nintendo-developed MLB game or a game not based on MLB players (or both, since Nintendo will probably make another Mario Baseball game on the Wii).

I don't think we'll see a baseball game like the one you described for a long time (if ever).

PS3 finally gets a decent month. The system also gets NCAA bball (finally). Too bad Motorstorm doesn't support split-screen multiplayer.

Burnout Dominator is only for the PS2 and PSP, not the 360. The 360 will get Burnout 5, but the release date for that is still TBA 2007.

Just a heads up to those looking forward to playing a baseball game. The demo for MLB 2k7 was released today. I think you get to play the 7,8,9 innings Mets vs. Cards. I will be downloading and playing it after work. I will do my best to bean Pujols in the head at least once.
