He isnt as good as you think. He is still unproven and cant block shots. He will never amount to be any better than Kevin Willis. Of course I could be wrong but that rarely happens. Im telling you guys Ive called talent all my life, I knew Marion would be great(not 10rpg great though), I always said the drafts were good when everyone else said they were jokes until last year when I said it was a joke which it turned out to be. I trust the Rockets judgement in talent and I dont think they would even attempt signing MJ. First off you have Geiger, Reeves, Austin, Cato, and the rest of the overpaid underachieving centers, all given big contracts for no reason other than 1 good year and being tall. Jackson is also injured pretty bad and injuries to centers seems to really hurt there game. If they absolutely must sign him because all the other big men are gone including Dream then Id rather see him get a MAX deal for 1 year than 5 years at 6mil. It would be crazy to go for him, he is a hard worker but thats just not enough. There will be better big men in the top 20 picks of the draft. Man I hope they dont get Jackson.

Just for the sake of arguement, let's assume that the best players available when we pick are all forwards and guards. Following the draft, would you still be against signing Jackson?

Incidentally, I do agree with your reservations regarding a long term contract. It does sound like the bidding will start at $4mil. What would the max be anyway?

He's only averaging 0.6 blocks a game. I thought he was better than that on defense. I know he can score and rebound.

Yes. Jackson is over-rated. [Confidential to one or two BBS posters: I said "Jackson," not "Jason Williams."]

If Houston cannot sign or draft a legitimate C, they should try to trade for a solid inside presence (ie La Frentz, DeClerq, Doleac). At this point, all three players are better developed (physically and experience-wise) than Collier.

You can be a good defensive center without getting blocks (though I'm not saying he is a good defensive player). And if he turned out as good as Kevin Willis, I'd love to have him.

I'd take Kevin Willis, or his clone.

I'd take Kevin Willis in a heartbeat. He carried the Rockets in 97-98.

How bout letting GS sign Marc Jackson, and then going after Foyle (6.6 rebs, 2.7 blocks in 24 min/game) or Dampier instead. How can the Warriors have Jackson, Dampier, Foyle, Fortson, and Jamison all on their roster at the same time? Surely they need to unload one of them.

Yeah but Willis is not a team player. He would take more shots than Mobley [IMG]
