I really feel for this guy. We can't get him until after the season, but would we still consider it and would he be worth it? Check this quote:

<i>Warriors hostage Marc Jackson on the organization he is trying to escape: "This is a stupid-(expletive) organization. They're a bunch of (expletive (expletives). General manager Garry St. Jean "is a (expletive) (expletive)."</i>

You can fill in the expletives.

I think it would all depend on Cato. If he keeps playing with his recent intensity, then we wouldn't have a need for Jackson. Otherwise, I say yes, we could use him.

Where are the Jackson dickriders now?

He seems like a real level-headed classy individual to have around an organization, no?

Well, you can look at this two ways. Marc Jackson is entirely bitter, and pissed off, and displaying these emotions in a manner as to make him look like a jerk.

OR, he is simply trying to make the Warriors organization look bad and trying to draw attention to how he has been mistreated in order to get them working harder on a trade involving him that he likes.

But who knows which one is the right one...

I'm on Jackson's side in this argument. Imo, GS hasn't handled this situation right from the very beginning.

I understand GS's point of view for resigning him, with the intent of getting some value for him. That's business.

What I don't understand, is why they've benched him, when he was almost the Rookie of the Year last year & could've probably helped their 14-23 team.

When they first matched the offer sheet, he voiced his disappointment & then kept quite after that. I assume he never expected to be benched all year long & have to watch the team continue to lose.

So, I can't blame him for being frustrated when he hears that a deal he most probably was approached about by GS management (to add Phoenix to his list), was rejected by GS management. I would've blown up at that point also.

Sure, Jackson's getting paid, but he's also a competitor & wants to play. He's 27 years old & only in his second year in the NBA. He doesn't have that many years left to play & make his mark.

This whole mess could've been avoided if GS had talked to & explained their intentions to Jackson during the off season & played him during the regular season to showcase his skills.

Sorry Swopa, but imo the Golden State Warriors Management has no class.

BTM-Let's say that you wanted to move companies (assuming you work) because you flat out hate your boss. The money is the same, and the company has you by the balls and forces you to stay for 7 more years.

Would you really be complimentary towards your job?

While I side entirely with Jackson on this issue, he is handling it very unprofessionally and because he is handling it in this manner, I no have no interest in him being a Rocket. Who is to say he wouldn't come here(when possible) and do the same thing? IMO he is making his own stock fall and thus tying the hands of GS management to trade him. No one wants a player with a $hitty attitude no matter how bad his current organization is. MJ would be much better off shutting his pie hole and letting GS do whatever they want to do with him. He is only making the situation worse.

    I don't give a rat's ass if Jackson ever wears a Rocket's uni; I don't think he's all that.

That being said; I don't think he can say enough bad things about the Warriers. There aren't enough expletives to describe how crappy they handled that situation. They came out looking so bad in that deal, that Jackson has a free ticket to say WHATEVER he wants about their organization without fear of being derided as classless by anyone but the most uneducated or self-righteous of individuals.

I respect the right of any organization to retain its talent for the purpose of putting the best product on the court.

I think milking the rules to retain a player as trade bait is super lame. That rule was created to allow teams to keep valuable players from leaving. If they didn't need him they shoud have let him leave.

Nobody should be declared valuable, and then not allowed to take court. They're hurting his career. And Jackson wasn't happy, but wasn't handling it poorly before he didn't get fair opportunity.

he'd be better off being quiet, because he's hurting his own reputation... but the warrior's front office looks awfully unethical

He's too stupid to realize that whenever he explodes and goes on a cursing rampage or shows up to camp fat and out of shape, he lowers his trade value.

He's a scrub who had a good half year on the ****tiest team in the league. In his mind he deserves to basically be first option on a good team.

Nice of you to put it so bluntly. From what I understand, Jackson went into the situation regretful, but ready to play. Once it became clear he wasn't going to be give na fair chance, he went to the tank.

What fascinating analysis! I thought the Bulls were the worst team last year? And what is a "scrub?" Was Kenny Smith a scrub? Maybe Kenny Thomas is now? It's a pointless word that doesn't mean anything. If you're interested in doing anything other than slinging insults at players...

Marc Jackson has value. Otherwise, the GSW wouldn't have bothered retaining him and the Rockets wouldn'tve made him an offer. He's a good rebounder, a decent shot, and plays passable defense. That's nothing outstanding. But it is enough to be a starting center on about 1/3 of the teams in the league, and a valuable back-up on the rest. In short, enough for a productive NBA career.

He's sitting on his butt because GSW retained him for his trade value rather than to play him. Now, he's being impolitick in acting so sullen, because it will hurt his trade value.

Do you have a personal grudge against Marc Jackson?

The worst thing by far is that they suspended him for the week and then made a 15 minute mandatory meeting in the middle of the week so he couldn't fly home. Just vindictive crap that surely will keep other players from wanting to go there. Totally ridiculous management. Its not like they are in a playoff race and Dampier is soooo good that they can't showcase Jackson.

I'm amused by all the comments about Warriors management being "classless" and "unethical."

How does anyone here know that the Phoenix deal (supposedly) died? Because the Phoenix GM held a press conference, three weeks before the trade deadline, to say they hadn't agreed on terms yet.

Has anyone here ever heard of a GM having a press conference like that? Ever?? But no one here complains about the Suns' front office ethics.

By the way, does anyone remember when Tsakalidis was expected to be a lottery pick, only to fall when his Greek team said they wouldn't let him out of his contract? Then, after the Suns draft him -- tee hee! -- the contract turns out to be no obstacle at all.

Maybe the Warriors should have just demanded cash as compensation from the Rockets when Jackson showed up with a calf injury. I'm sure you all would have approved of that more easily. ;)

So you're completely untroubled by the situation?

I don't resent the Warriors keeping Jackson. That's smart. I just don't like it that they retained someone they apparently never had any interest in playing.

Fact of the matter is, he's the best C on that team. Another thing is, they should trade him and Antawn Jamison to the East. They should try trading Mookie, Jackson, and Jamison to New York for Camby, Sprewell and their choice of Ward or Eisley.

Makes everyone's job easier. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that Jamison is NOT THEIR SF type. He just can't do it, it's not his style. Jackson can fetch them value. They can get a PG that's interested in playing with THEM.

OR, another option is trade Fortson, Larry hughes, and Jackson for Kandi, Odom and Dooling or Mcinnis or draft pick.

    Jackson/Brand
    Brand/Fortson
    Miles/Maggette
    Richardson/Hughes
    Mcinnis/Hughes

    Kandi/Dampier/Foyle
    Jamison/Murphy
    Odom/Mills
    Richardson/Sura
    whoever

So many things GS can do, they just want it to fall into their laps, and they're going to end up settling for leftovers, and a bad rep.

Are those of you defending Jacksons actions (not the man - but his actions) basically saying that Pippen handled his Houston exit well?

I think Marc Jackson's situation is more akin to what Francis did with Vancouver than what Pippen did with Houston. Francis told Vancouver not to draft him, they did anyway, and he balsted them. Jackson obviously did not want to play for GS, that is why he signed an offer sheet with Houston. Pippen chose to sign with Houston, after throwing away their playoff chances he decided to take cheap shots at Barkley and Rudy in hopes of rejoining Phil Jackson and find some new coattails to ride.

you, and a few others, missed the point completely.

Pippen came to Houston by choice. He then became unhappy and an a-hole to demand a trade.

Jackson is being held by the Golden State Warriors AGAINST HIS WISHES. He chose another place to play (again Houston) and was stopped by GSW. He is now trying to become a complete a-hole to force GWS to trade him - his orginal, and "restricted FA" desire.

The difference is there is no hypocrisy with Jacksons actions/comments, nor has there been from day one, as the was the case with Pippen. Jackson was always "sign me to a decent contract (not minimum salary) and play me, or trade me", not "ingore me then stuff things up when i go and make a deal for myself, and then make things even worse for me/everyone."

IMHO he's well within his rights to point out all the mistakes and general stuffup GSW management makes with HIS career (not like he has a vested intereset in it or anything  )... but then again, i'm also a big Mark Cuban fan :D

    Slightly different story....

Pippen wanted to be the man on the team and wanted out of here because he wasn't (and still cannot be) the man.

Jackson signed a contract with a team, only to have his offer (fairly) matched by his current team.

I just think Jackson is frustrated because he hasn't been given any playing time (due to Dampiers 'form' I assume?) and because the trade deadline is getting pretty darn close and he's looking like a pine-rider for a while now.

I don't think Jackson cares if he lowers his trade value by whining, he's not interested in getting anything back for himself, only a move to another team who would actually want him on their roster.

I just don't get why the Warriors signed him - ok, sure he was an asset, and they shouldn't let anything go for free - but if they're not going to play him or trade him then it seems like a waste of cash doesn't it?

Can someone explain why the Rockets can't trade for Jackson for one season? I mean the Rockets made a deal, the Warriors matched it, now why shouldn't the Rockets be able to try and trade for him. There must be some underlying reason that I'm just to blind to see.

Anyways, I'm not sure if he would really help the team that much. But even with Cato's improved play, I'm not going to say the Rockets should just forget about trying to get another player at the center position. Cato hasn't been THAT good.
