IMHO he's the Best of What's left that's not a Finley and not a kid (Wallace, Johnson, both of whom I like).

I like his shot and his ball handling skills. He's a combo guard and would fit in well.

JVG said also that he met with Spree and that he's a big fan, although Spree might be looking for money we don't have.

The Derek Anderson interview with Marc Berman was pretty positive, DA seems enthusiastic and positive about the prospect of playing with the Rox, which I think is positive since all these guys KNOW for a fact we have nothing to offer besides our LLE.

Here's hoping we land either DA or Spree for the LLE, it's really a win-win situation.

I like DA too.... he's kind of weak (fragile) though. However, he's got a good attitude and wants to play for a winner. I bet it's either us or Spurs.

well anderson was on the spurs before so you never know there.

but remember the rumored taylor for anderson trade earlier in the year so DA may actually be serious about playing in Houston because IIRC he was pretty positive on the situation here. The only thing is of course the LLE. But I figure money shouldnt be too big of an issue for the Amnesty "victims" because they are still drawing a "decent" salary

I'd like him for the LLE. DA's a good lockerroom guy and he's still talented.

Before anybody says anything about his knees, despite all the games he missed last season, none of them were due to knee issues. Mostly a recurring back injury.

I remember Derek Anderson saying that he thought he would be in Houston just before the trade deadline. Anyone else remember this? He must like the city.

It doesn't matter how much any team offers any of the amnesty cuts. By the time they retire they'll earn the same amount no matter what type of contract the sign now.

I guess DAs talks with the Lakers fell through. He played well with the Spurs when he was with them, but his health wasn't such a big issue in those days.

It's no secret that David Wesley wore out last year after playing so many minutes. He provided defense and stability at the shooting guard position. I think that Wesley can still help this Rocket team at least another season. But, he has to have help!!!!

Derek Anderson has been injury prone the past couple of years. He was a key player for the Spurs during their championship run. Then he went for the money. It is evident that Anderson fell out of favor with his Coaches, and Cheeks basically put him in the dog house.

Signing Derek Anderson would definatley be cool. He is still getting paid by Portland. And since he was so willing to come to Houston in a trade, he would end up making his salary and the LLE. Wow he gets a raise and gets to play in the town he wanted to!! All of this for not being traded in the first place. Plus he probably saves on the Oregon State Income Tax.

I'd rather get Anderson over Sprewell.

I wonder what happened to the Lakers. It seemed like a foregone conclusion that he would land there. Oh and for anybody still confused over whether amnesty cuts can double dip, that issue was discussed in this thread: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?p=1958808#post1958808

So the difference between the full MLE and the LLE is just $1.65 million, which levels the playing field a lot.

Who said anything about consolation? I'm just stating a fact. People on this board have expressed concern about his knees, and have even stated that he's lost a lot of his athleticism because of his knee injuries, which I disagree with. It's been said that he missed a lot of time last season because of his knees. That's not the case.

Everybody knows that DA's most serious injuries have been with his right knee. It wasn't an issue last year. That's the point I was making.

I thought he left SAS before they won anything???

There may be bad blood in the locker room if joins us. IIRC he was brought in by the Spurs as a "Kobe Stopper" during the Lakers second title year, but he got his arm (or something) broken by a Juwan Howard flagrant foul in the second round (Spurs v Mavs series). He missed the rest of the playoffs & the Spurs missed out on a ring, lowering his value, hence they didn't resign him to what he wanted.

I think you're right. I was thinking of Steven Jackson.

Either way, Derek Anderson was playing great when he was with the Spurs.
