Marbury needs to grow up. Get over what happened in Minnesota and move on. Garnett is a GREAT player and this is just flat out disrespectful.

And why, albeit probably unintentionally, slag Mario Ellie...a guy who has more rings and has hit more pressure shots than 'Starbury' ever will.

After the game Marbury was asked to compare the 20-year-old Stoudemire to Garnett at the same age.

"It's not even close,'' Marbury said. "He doesn't even compare to Amare. Two different people. It's like Michael Jordan and Mario Elie.''

When Marbury's comments were played back for Garnett, the Wolves star said: "This is Steph being jealous. I'm still on his mind. He used the young fellow to come at me.''

Marbury and Garnett were close as teammates during Marbury's first two seasons in Minnesota, but grew apart. Marbury demanded a trade from the Wolves in 1999 and has had a chilly relationship with Garnett ever since.

"He's got three kids, a wife, a family, bills, all sorts of things. But I'm still on his mind, like a girl,'' Garnett said.

Boy, did Stephon pick the wrong guy to piss off. Super Mario could still kick his ass!

Just ask some of your team's fans what they think of Mario Elie, Mr. Marbury. :p

Oh, and if you ask nicely, Mario might show you what a NBA championship ring looks like!

Wow, Steph does seem to have something burning inside of him about KG. Amare is VERY good and is certainly well worth being mentioned with KG ........ but, "MJ" to "Ellie" with KG on the short end is plain stupid......and Steph ought to see his psych 5 or 6 times a week......he's got some serious issues. Maybe he actually thought he was going to be as good a player as KG and the "NO WAY IN HELL" is finally starting to sink in.

Two classless pricks (with Marbury being worse - by the way, he also dissed Yao Ming). THAT is why I am so glad we have someone like Yao Ming in the NBA.

Marbury dissed Ming? I didn't know that, what did he say? I'll tell you what, Ming is going to drop 40 points on the Suns next time the Rockets play. And Marbury needs to let this thing go with Garnett. It's not like Garnett ran him out of Minnesota or anything, he forced a trade out of there, making the team choose between trading him or letting him go for nothing. And what's up with taking shots a Mario Elie, who played a key role on three different championship teams?

Marbury didn't really say anything bad about Yao... he was just saying that he'd much rather have Amare than Yao, 7'6" or not... he's still a dork though.

Marbury was the guy who made the lucky layup to beat us.

He shouldn't have said that about Garnett. Cuz KEVIN GARNETT is the guy makin 21 million dollars a year. He could hire all these lawyers and bodyguards. ANYWAYS. Amare is very good, and he will become a great player. But right now, Kevin Garnett is the man. he is the franchise. He is the main player. He is consistent too. Amare is just a rookie. He will get better. Marbury is jealous that he couldn't get Yao and they were lucky to get Stoudamire. Good for them. :)

But you guys misunderstood the question. Steph was asked to compare Amare and KG in their ROOKIE years. I do remember that KG was pretty lost in his first year (although better than, say Jermaine O'Neal or Kwame Brown).

It was a pretty weird statement, anyway, in that it kind of sounded disrepectful to two players (Ellie, KG), but in reality maight have been right on the money.

Amare in his rookie year: spectacular like MJ
KG in his first year: solid but not spectacular like Mario.

    From the AZ Republic:

Since Marbury saw Garnett, who came directly from high school, early in his career, it figured that would be the next question.

"It's not even close," Marbury said. "He doesn't even compare to Amare. It's two different people. It's like Michael Jordan and Mario Elie. It's not even close.

"You all saw Kevin play out of high school and you saw this kid play. You don't have to ask me.

"He's a man-child. He looks like he went to the Army for two years and then came into the NBA. It's like night and day. Strength-wise, he's got that dawg in him. He's got that mean streak in him right away. It doesn't have to develop. He has it already.

"Not to take nothing away from Kevin. He was a great talent coming out of high school. But this is a kid you see every 15 or 20 years. It's very rare."

    Mario Elie?

    Our Mario Elie?

Super Mario Elie, kiss of death Elie?

Three Time NBA Champion, Mario Elie?

Steph must be extremely jealous of Mario Elie or something.

I have to admit...some of your lines just confuse me. What does this have to do with anything?

Well, Garnett could sue Marbury for slander, and if he loses the lawsuit, then he could send his bodyguards over to Marbury's house to kick his ass...

    duh! :)

Yes, but I think this is Marbury's whole plan...why? Because he knows that Garnett will lose the suit, forcing him to send out his bodyguards. Marbury will have planned for this, adequately defending himself while simultaneously taking advantage of the fact that, GASP, KG's bodyguards are no longer there to protect him.

lol....why would Stephon Marbury even know Mario Elie's name? did they ever have a conflict with one another?

Amare is doing better than most out-of-highschool players. Kobe and T-Mac were never this good in their first year. They didn't have much playing time. Jermaine O'Neal was stuck on Portland's bench for 4 years and now he has erupted. I don't get why Stephon Marbury would say he'd rather have Amare than Yao. Of course, cuz that's all they could get. Charles Barkley has said much more outrageous things.

BY THE WAY, what is Mario Elie doing? Is he still part of the Rockets organization? I think he's still in Houston.

Who cares about Marbury? He's a point guard who insists on shooting the ball a lot, unfortunately he is neither a great passer nor a great scorer. He's been traded twice, and he's not on his last team. It is hilarious how Kidd went to the Nets and took them to the Finals. People say Marbury had a different team in New Jersey, but it's still funny, they sucked real bad when he was there.

Garnett was drafted a year before Marbury. Marbury never saw a rookie Garnett up close. This is definitely a newspaper/Marbury just looking to prop Amare. When Amare learns to play D, pass, or shoot the jumper like Garnett can, then he can come back and talk.

Garnett is single handedly holding a team that consists of him, and a bunch of role players together. No Wally Sczerbiak. No Terrell Brandon. All Kevin Garnett.

Kind of funny that the Suns are talking all this garbage, considering the Wolves still beat them.

Also, kind of funny how Marbury says they'd take Amare over Yao. This is the Phoenix Suns-who was the last good center they had? They've been a donut team for 20 years.

Even funnier how Marbury uses the example of Mario Elie. Way to know your team's history, Stephon.
