I didn't hear about it either. It's too bad though - there are legitimate complaints regarding these sorts of violations of civil liberties, and people will now use this one example to attempt to discredit all of the verifiable and proper cases.
Too bad? That it's not true? I heard about this story and there was plenty of backlash (albeit by leftists who hate GW anyways) against the current administration because of it. And to be fair - future claims of civil liberty violations should actually be verified before discredited OR used as fodder. The whole story was extremely shady from the onset - and Senator Kennedy should apologize for leaping on such an unverified episode to make some sort of political point.
Too bad because it will be used to discredit verifiable problems. And I agree that claims of civil liberties being violated should be verified - the question is who will verify them. Plenty of them have been already.
I'm not a GW supporter. I just happen to think that hoaxes like this to make political points are stupid and the Kennedy has some egg on his face for leaping on it like he did so. The WMD claims were a little more than some guy, 2 professors, and a "reporter". This has been rehashed over and over. Hell - I'm not American anyways so it's not my problem.
