I don't know if this has been discussed.

I know Ginobli is an energy player, and the best team in the league maybe deserves two all stars. Now I know stats aren't everything. But 16 points 5 rebounds a game? No stat in the top 20 besides steals.

Yeah ever once in a while he comes up with an amazing play... but does he really deserve to be an all star?

I get the feel he went from underrated to overrated.

There are more to this game then stats... some guys really make a difference out there in things that you can't even measure in the box score (and Yao Ming is definitely one of them).

Manu changes a lot of things for opposing teams both on offense and defense. He's as multi-dimensional as they come, and frankly... he could be a 20 point scorer if he was on a different team and they asked him to score lots.

But, he doesn't have to... much like Yao. (but, occasionally, he will go nuts on the scoreboard... see his 48 point game vs. the Suns).

Are there other deserving players? yes... but you can't really say Manu isn't deserving either (plus, he got voted in by the coaches... this wasn't like the fans voted him in).

he is deserving. manu is also a top notch defender, great passer, great shooter, and extremely creative.

i like to think we have a poor man's manu in sura. :)

love sura... but manu's bigger and more versatile. i just don't think he should go in front of CWebb... who i don't like... but is averaging like 20-10-5 on a good team. maybe i even put pau gasol in front of manu if he were healthy.

That was his only 30 pt game this season. Hell, he has only 2 other games where he's scored 25+ this season.

He is a damn fine player but shouldnt be an all-star. I realize its not always a numbers thing but his are stats are really too low.

Bibby was snubbed and the rest of the team has been hurt a lot.

right i agree. but "poor" doesn't do it justice. it's a good comparison really, both play with sort of a reckless abandon.

Personally, yeah, i do think he is an All-Star. Stats arent everything. I dont think Stats even give Yao a fair shake on what he brings to the Rockets on a nightly basis. The fact is, Ginobili is a game changer and people have to account for him. I have no problem with him being selected as an All Star.

I think it's easy to point at any Phoenix or Sacremento player and say "they should all be all-stars, look at their numbers!"

Of course players for those shallow high-scoring teams will have inflated numbers compared to a player on a team known for defense and depth like San Antonio.

Ginobli does everything that we value in Sura, bringing energy and playing hard every night. Also, he shoots a high fg% and he is very good outside the arc, which is a rare combination. I think he's been overshadowed by Duncan, but Ginobli deserves the all star nod at guard. (And I don't think he got picked OVER Webber, since Webber is a forward.)
