Has anybody stayed at the Mansion at Turtle Creek in Dallas? Or eaten at the restaurant? I've seen it on the Travel Channel and the Food Network for their restaurant.

I've thought about booking a weekend there for my wife and me to check it out.

Is it worth the hype (and the expense), or it just overhyped and priced?

Been there before a few years back, very pricey food is very good and hotel is very nice as well, most celebs stay there when they come to Dallas.

They have these "weekend getaway" packages that bring the price down.

I figured it might be cool for an anniversary weekend. The problem I have is that it is in the middle of Dallas...which doesn't really appeal to me.

Maybe one of the Hill Country resorts would be a better fit.

That area of Dallas is pretty nice. Lots of bars and restaurants in the area. Close to just about anything you'd want to do in terms of tourist type outings (Deep Ellum, Farmer's Market, JFK assassination spot, symphony, etc).

Yeah downtown Dallas doesn't really have much going on unless you wanna go to the West End

I've eaten there, and I've got a friend that owns a condo in the tower which is a part of the Mansion. His place is ridiculously pimp. It is a beautiful complex in a great part of Dallas. I'd recommend it.

Depends on what your tastes are. I consider myself a simpleton when it comes to food. The setting is unbelievable and the attention to detail on the food and its presentation is amazing. They have a very creative menu with a lot of items that you would not find at a typical restaurant. It's a high class place, no doubt about it. Women would probably appreciate it more so than men. Which means you will get laid that night. Maybe twice.

I have stayed at the Mansion at Turtle Creek hotel for two nights. Yes, it's nice, but it's not spectacular. The rooms are about like what you'd get at the St Regis in Houston. Actually those two hotels are very similar, in my opinion. I do not think the hotel is worth the price they charge at all. Waste of money. When in Dallas, I prefer the Hotel Zaza. That place is pimp! Very trendy style to the rooms, especially the suites - some of those are badazz. Try to book the Texas suite if you ever stay there.

Ah, now the Hotel Zaza, that place rocks!

Turtle Creek blows La Cantera out of the water IMO.....well worth the money.

Zaza is more of like an Ian Schrager type place (may actually be...not sure)...but very cool place to go as well.
