wow........... http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/wcStory?contentId=8155484#story=8398506 Manny won't be Manny for the Red Sox anymore. Manny Ramirez was traded to the Dodgers in a three-team deadline-beating blockbuster Thursday, sending the disgruntled future Hall-of-Famer out of Boston right as the pennant race starts to heat up. The Red Sox will receive Pirates outfielder Jason Bay in the deal, while Pittsburgh gets third baseman Andy LaRoche and Class-A right-hander Bryan Morris from the Dodgers and outfielder Brandon Moss and reliever Craig Hansen from the Red Sox. The Red Sox will pay all of the approximately $7 million remaining on Ramirez's contract. Ramirez should provide a major boost to the Dodgers' offense, but his arrival will add to the crowd in the Dodgers' outfield, which already includes Andre Ethier, Matt Kemp, Juan Pierre and Andruw Jones. Moss, Hansen and LaRoche all have played in the majors. Morris, 21, was the Dodgers' first-round pick in 2006. The deal could significantly tilt the balance of power toward the Dodgers in the hotly contested NL West race. boston just threw away any shot at defending their title.
did I miss this thread? lol......... sorry, been playin poker all day, no tv, no radio. feel free to bash, i deserve it. i thought i just broke the story lol.
The thread on this has a title "[Baseball] Huge 3 team Blockbuster Trade in place," but I still feel compelled to address this misconception... Not at all. I'm not a fan of any of these teams, but the Manny Ramirez love based on his name and history is eerily reminiscent to Brett Favre. Manny's still a very good hitter, but he's no longer the great hitter he was from 1995-2006. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/stats?playerId=2974 Right now, he's comparable to Jason Bay on offense, especially considering the parks they play in -- except Bay is far younger, a better defender and a better baserunner. It's not going to hurt them this season.
