No, not our BBS's Manny but the actual real life Manny Ramirez! (I knew that title would draw some people in!) Ramirez fined for not running out grounder Tuesday, September 10, 2002 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Manny Ramirez was fined by Boston Red Sox manager Grady Little for not running out a grounder in Monday's game against Tampa Bay. Ramirez hit a check-swing grounder back to pitcher Tanyon Sturtze in the third, and immediately headed toward the dugout. Little thought about taking Ramirez out at that time, but opted not to when Ramirez apologized to his teammates in the dugout. "I made a mistake," Little said Tuesday. "I should have taken him out of the game right there. When you do something like that, it shows up the whole game of baseball. You've got to make the effort." The pair talked at length before Tuesday's game, and Ramirez was in the starting lineup against the Devil Rays. "It's done," said Little, who didn't disclose the amount of the fine. Ramirez later hit a tiebreaking homer Monday, a solo shot off Sturtze in the seventh of a game Boston won 6-3. He declined comment Tuesday Any comments Manny? (The BBS Manny, that is... Man this is confusing!)
Ramirez fined for views on Creed Wednesday, September 11, 2002 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Manny Ramirez of the ClutchCity.net BBS forum was fined by the RIAA for belittling the fabulous music group Creed. Ramirez, with his eclectic music taste, often disparaged Creed with such revolting comments as "Creed absolutely sucks" and "I hate today's pop music, especially Creed..." Clutch, the administrator of the popular CC.net BBS, admitted the wrongdoing on Manny's part, but failed to reprimand him for his outlandish ways. "I made a mistake," Clutch said Tuesday at a RIAA press conference. "I should have suspended him for a few weeks right there. When you do something like that, it shows up the whole music industry. You've got to make the effort to show Creed its due as top band in the known galaxy." The RIAA and Clutch talked at length before Tuesday's press conference, but Ramirez was still a part of the BBS community as of Wednesday. "It's done," said Hilary B. Rosen, chairman of the RIAA, who didn't disclose the amount of the fine. Ramirez later took another potshot at Creed and the RIAA, in an apparent attempt at usurping the RIAA's authority, by calling them "big, fat doo-doo-heads." He declined comment Tuesday. Creed's lead singer, Scott Stapp, in a one sentence release to the general press, expressed outrage over Manny Ramirez's statements. "He should die of gonorrhea and rot in hell," read the press release. Jeff, an admin for the ClutchCity site and known RIAA opponent, quickly lashed out at the RIAA for their enigmatic ways. "Why are they attacking people's opinons?" an exasperated Jeff said from a conference call on Tuesday with Ramirez's lawyer. "Don't they have better things to do with their time, like attack Kazaa and Limewire? The First Amendment DOES mean something in this country, but I guess the RIAA controls THAT, too, huh?"
Vescey, ROTFLMFAO!! That was great! Thanks for the laugh. drapg, Yea, I saw that. I sorta gave up on my Sox after their annual slide. But Grady did the right thing. I'm so upset with the real Manny that it might be time to change my name! Er, on second thought, scratch that idea!
He hit a grand slam tonight against the Devil Rays. I guess he wants to redeem himself. Good news for my fantasy team, anyway.
